'She is hypocrite': Michelle Obama slammed as dad of captive Naama Levy criticizes former first lady for silence on Hamas hostages

WASHINGTON, DC: Naama Levy, a 19-year-old girl who is being held hostage by Hamas, is passionate about helping others and has idolized Michelle Obama for speaking up for women.

Her father, Tony Levy, is baffled as to why famous women like former First Lady Michelle Obama have been silent about his daughter and other hostages' plight.

Naama was part of a global peace organization bringing together Jews, Arabs, and Americans and volunteered at a kindergarten helping new Israeli immigrants from Ethiopia.

Naama’s mother, Yony Levy, 52, told the New York Post, “We talked about Michelle Obama often. She believed her to be someone who not only cared about global women but also someone with a really good heart.”

Seventy days have passed since Naama was abducted by Hamas

Saturday, December 16, 2023, marks 70 days since American citizen Naama Levy and 250 others were abducted by Hamas and other terrorists and taken into Gaza territory.

As First Lady, Michelle Obama spearheaded the ‘Bring Our Girls Home’ campaign, which advocated for the release of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamist terror group Boko Haram.

Last month, she traveled to Malawi with Amal Clooney and Bill Gates' ex-wife, Melinda French Gates, to advocate for an end to child marriage.

Naama’s father, Tony argued, “What I want to know: Why has she, and all these other famous women Naama looked up to, and all of the global human rights organizations she believed in, stayed silent about what has happened to my Naama and all the other girls who are still held hostage?”

“It is like they have disappeared. Their silence shouts loudly,” he continued. “Naama believed in the power of women helping each other. She believed in the power of women. I am disappointed for her.”

Naama Levy's shocking kidnapping was seen around the world as terrorists paraded her in blood-soaked pajamas.

Her father, Tony, couldn’t bring himself to watch the footage of Naama’s abduction, which Hamas uploaded on social media just hours after the October 7 attacks began.

“I am trying to put a barrier up in my mind, my soul, because I know I need to protect myself but I have to be strong for her,” he said to the outlet. “We know the clock is ticking for the hostages, physically and mentally. We urgently need to bring them back.”

Hope for Naama Levy yet

Although some women and children were returned during the humanitarian pause, Naama is still one of 19 women and 113 men held as prisoners by Hamas inside Gaza.

According to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller’s statements from last week, Hamas is hanging on to the surviving women because it does not want them to tell the world what happened to them.

Tony says he tries hard not to think about his daughter's captivity.

"I am trying not to imagine what she might be going through — when those thoughts come through, I try and push them away, block them," he went on to say. “Because I am a father who cannot protect my little girl. I feel like I am not doing my job properly.”

Levy talked to the outlet at the Hostages and Missing Persons Family Forum's headquarters in Tel Aviv, following a private meeting in which he learned some of the details about what the hostages who have been released have revealed of their ordeals.

It would be an understatement to say he was devastated, unnerved, and overwhelmed; Naama’s father had the look of complete anguish.

The only good news he has is that Naama is still thought to be alive.

Her father has no means of telling her how much the family is doing for her, from Naama's mother Yoni, to Tony's ex-wife Ayelet Levy Shachar, and Naama's older brother and two younger siblings.

Internet blasts former First Lady for her lack of proactivity on the matter

People on X demanded swift action from Michelle Obama as well as from present US lawmakers to bring Americans trapped in the burgeoning conflict, back to their homes.

One X user wrote: "I can not imagine the misery the father and the family are going through right now. I hope that wherever she is, she is okay and will one day be free to be with her family."

Another user stated: "As he should. I once had so much respect for this woman. Her silence on kidnapped girls and rape victims is blatant and concerning. Thank you to @HillaryClinton for speaking up rather than suddenly disappearing like @MichelleObama"
