Kamala Harris says she’ll be a ‘president who has common sense’

Kamala Harris kept her look minimal, accessorizing with a pair of earrings, bracelets, and a US flag pin.

During the historic night, Harris reportedly told the attendees, “On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on Earth, I accept your nomination of President of the United States of America.”

“I will be a president who unites us… a president who is practical and has common sense and always fights for the American people, from the courthouse to the White House that has been my life’s work,” she added.

Kamala Harris emphasizes unity and gratitude in DNC speech

Kamala Harris, who became the nominee just a few weeks ago after Joe Biden stepped down, also remarked during her address, “With this election, our nation has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism, and divisive battles of the past. A chance to chart a new way forward,” as reported by CBS News.

“Not as members of any one party or faction. But as Americans,” she asserted.

Kamala Harris said, “Let me start by thanking my most incredible husband, Doug, for being an incredible partner to me and being an incredible father to Cole and Ella. And happy anniversary, Dougie. I love you so very much.”

Harris continued, “To our president, Joe Biden — when I think about the path that we have traveled together, Joe, I am filled with gratitude. Your record is extraordinary, as history will show, and your character is inspiring.

“And Doug and I love you and Jill and are forever thankful to you both. And to Coach Tim Walz, you are going to be an incredible vice president. And to the delegates and everyone who has put your faith in our campaign, your support is humbling,” she added.

Harris further stated, “And to the delegates and everyone who has put your faith in our campaign, your support is humbling. So, America, the path that led me here in recent weeks, was no doubt unexpected. But I'm no stranger to unlikely journeys."

"My mother, our mother, Shyamala Harris had one of her own, and I miss her every day, and especially right now. And I know she's looking down smiling,” she added.

Netizens call Harris' fashion sense 'very demure, very mindful'

Meanwhile, people online had a lot to say about Harris' outfit choice.

An X user tweeted, "Navy suit is powerful and presidential. This is business. @VVFriedman On her inauguration, Kamala Harris will wear white!"

The second user wrote, "Kamala Harris finally takes the stage. She's wearing a navy blue suit, very demure, very mindful 😄 #DNCConvention2024."

"Kamala Harris’ navy DNC suit and blouse is Chloe again, just like the tan one. Part of showing the world who she is," Vanessa Friedman, New York Times and INYT fashion director/critic, tweeted.

"Socialist wearing 3K suits. Sounds right," a person commented.

"It was commanding, serious, not fussy. was struck by her wearing it with a navy blouse. no distractions?" another person remarked.

"$3500 then talk how the working class need to give more," the third one stated.

"Sleek, professional, appropriate, flattering. She looked like what central casting would envision if it were choosing a look for a female president," the fourth person said.

"I would also just like to say that while I myself have always hated that as women in boardrooms, we often have to wear suits to make certain we’re being heard when we speak, I’ve hated even more the unicolor pantsuits of many women in politics. Kamala’s Chloé suits are 🤌🏼…" a tweet read.

"I wish her blazer were just a WEEEEEEEE tiny bit more tailored but overall I fully support her sporting suits. Was honestly wondering if she'd come out in sneakers like she does from time to time but I guess that wouldn't be presidential lmao (but it'd be cool if it were tbh)," a Reddit user wrote.
