WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden will denounce Florida's six-week abortion ban in an upcoming speech in the state in an effort to focus his re-election campaign more on reproductive rights in the country.

The event is scheduled to take place in Tampa on Tuesday, April 23, a week before the new restrictive abortion law takes effect in the Sunshine State. The president will address "the stakes of this election for reproductive freedom across the entire country," according to the Biden campaign aides who shared details with NBC News.

The 81-year-old incumbent will also talk about how the overturning of Roe v Wade impacted restrictions on abortion access in Florida and the Arizona state Supreme Court's recent near-total abortion ban ruling that upheld a Civil War-era law from 1864.

Joe Biden to attack Donald Trump's role in abortion restrictions

With abortion taking center stage in the Democratic presidential campaign, the event holds significance for the president, who has expressed his full support for reproductive freedom, installing Vice President Kamala Harris as its advocate.

Since the top court revoked Roe v Wade in 2022, Harris has held over 80 events in 20 states advocating reproductive rights. The latest was in Arizona, slamming the return of 19th-century law and former President Donald Trump's role in the conservative states' implementing stricter abortion access.

In Tampa, Biden is expected to attack his predecessor's frequent remarks for being proud of his role in repealing Roe v Wade, which was possible due to the conservative Supreme Court justices he appointed during his term in the White House.

"From Arizona to Florida, more and more Americans are seeing up close the devastating impact of Trump overturning Roe v. Wade," Morgan Mohr, Biden-Harris campaign's senior adviser for reproductive rights, said in a statement.

"While Donald Trump continues to brag about unleashing these extreme and dangerous bans, President Joe Biden is running to restore reproductive freedom. Since the overturning of Roe, whenever reproductive rights have been on the ballot, they have won, and this November will be no different," she added.

Biden's speech is expected to include a warning about a federal abortion ban if Trump gets elected in November. However, the former president recently refused to endorse a national ban, leaving the decision to states.

Internet slams Joe Biden

Netizens responded with fury over Biden shifting his entire focus to abortion and leaving out other prominent issues like border security and the economy.

One user called the move a "Distraction from the border and cost of living." Meanwhile, another remarked, "This is all they have nothing else to run on..."

"This guy is absolute scum," an individual slammed Biden.

"He should be refused entry," a user demanded. One response read, "No. You can stay out of Florida."

Another outraged user asked, "So no comment on immigration, inflation, crime or world peace?"

A user wrote on Facebook, "Get over it and stay in Washington, and cover the border, fuel prices, and the economy." Another added, "Stay outa Florida old man."

"Go back to delaware and stay there," an individual fumed. One remark read, "He thinks he is a king , read the constitution and start respecting the Supreme Court!!"
