NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sports commentator Stephen A Smith said that President Donald Trump “is being Trump” during a segment of 'The View,' as co-host Joy Behar questioned the president’s alertness and behavior.

Stephen Smith says '77 million voters don't care'

During the Thursday, December 4 segment, Behar commented, "Trump is calling Governor Walz a name we don’t use anymore. He’s attacking female reporters as ‘Piggy’ and ugly. He’s falling asleep in the middle of a meeting. So what do you think is going on with him?”

Smith replied, “Trump is being Trump,” prompting Behar to ask, “Well, really? There’s nothing cognitively wrong there?"

"I am not saying whether there is or isn’t,” Smith said. “I am saying 77 million people don’t care. They voted for him, and those 77 million people will do it again.”

He added, “The point is, he is the President of the United States despite the onslaught of stuff that was coming his way. He knocked out folks, and the Democrats let him because they weren’t on their game."

Smith also noted, “Trump is positioning himself to be in power even if he isn’t the President in the future. He wants to make sure he maintains that level of influence.” He added that the opposition must aim to beat Trump because “he is going to make sure he dictates who his successor is going to be."

Donald Trump seemed to battle sleep during Cabinet meeting

President Trump appeared to nearly fall asleep multiple times during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, December 2, just hours after a late-night posting spree on Truth Social. His tiredness raised concerns about his alertness, though White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended him, saying Trump was not disengaged and was listening attentively.

Trump was seen dozing while Senator Marco Rubio spoke directly to him. During the meeting, he frequently squinted and, at least once, fully closed his eyes before leaning forward to respond to remarks from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
