Stephen A Smith slams Jill Biden for covering up Joe's suspected stroke: ‘Really disturbed me’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sports commentator and political voice Stephen A Smith has lashed out at former First Lady Jill Biden for hiding her husband's cognitive decline, saying her actions “really, really disturbed me.”
Smith slammed Jill’s decision to cover up the situation while thinking Joe Biden was having a stroke during his 2024 debate, accusing her and Democratic leaders of “trying to find a way to manipulate and dictate a narrative.”
Stephen Smith slams Jill for protecting Biden
Smith shared his frustration during an appearance on former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 'Pulse of the People' WABC radio show.
Smith explained that “that last part really, really disturbed me, and it really bothered me,” referring to how Jill Biden covered for her husband, especially since she publicly praised Joe right after the debate by telling him he did a great job.
Smith expressed his anger over how “[A]t that time, his wife comes out, and she applauds his effort, and she said he was wonderful, and he answered all the questions and all of this other stuff.”
He pointed out that this kind of behavior heavily damages public trust, making people believe that Democrats are “dishonest, not forthcoming, not open, and always trying to find a way to manipulate and dictate a narrative.”

Stephen Smith blames the rushed nomination process
“They had an opportunity to push him out and to position themselves to have a primary,” Smith noted, recalling how he had publicly called for a new candidate before the election because he could clearly see Joe Biden's decline.
He argued that the Democratic Party missed a major opportunity to let voters choose a strong candidate through a normal voting process, “where a viable candidate to go up against Donald Trump would have been, would have, would have happened the right way.”
He clarified that he did not have a personal issue with Kamala Harris, who eventually took over the ticket and lost to Donald Trump.
Instead, he blamed the party's rushed process, stating, “I’m not trying to say that Kamala Harris was the wrong candidate. What I am trying to say, however, is the process that she had to endure was wrong because by bypassing a primary and ultimately being inserted as the Democratic nominee.”
Stephen Smith warns that attacking Trump is not enough
“I think it cost us a great amount of credibility,” Cuomo agreed, admitting that the institutional defense of Biden “was all a crock” and that the cover-up badly damaged the party's reputation, “especially the Democratic Party, which is supposed to be the party of truth and courage.”
While both Smith and Cuomo made it clear that they also disagree with Trump and the GOP, Smith argued that Democrats are hurting themselves by focusing too much on their opponent.
“But on too many occasions, people want you to go out there and bloviate and spew venom in the direction of the man in the White House,” Smith said.
He concluded that the party needs to look inward, adding, “When you look at the Democratic Party, and you talk about credibility and what they’re lacking, the why is profound. You’re lacking credibility because you focused on the wrong things.”
Cuomo backed him up, concluding that Democrats must focus on what they actually plan to accomplish rather than just ragging on Trump.
