LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After Tuesday night’s debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, Stephen Colbert took to his live show and pointed out a particularly fiery moment where Harris “barely bit her tongue.”

This occurred when Harris criticized Trump for his controversial invitation to the Taliban to Camp David for discussions on Afghanistan.

Kamala Harris’s fiery pause and Stephen Colbert’s hilarious take

“A place of storied significance for us as Americans, a place where we honor the importance of American diplomacy, where we invite and receive respected world leaders. And this,” Harris said, pausing and gesturing towards Trump, before settling on “former president.”

The audience erupted in cheers, and Colbert himself remained silent for a full 15 seconds. When he finally spoke, he quipped, “I don’t think former president was the ‘F-word’ she was looking for!”

Colbert humorously suggested that Harris might have inadvertently coined a new expletive. He playfully asked for an example sentence, saying, “I have had it with these ‘former president’ snakes on this ‘former president’ plane!”

Continuing his comedic critique, Colbert addressed Trump’s response to a question about his past attempts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.

Trump’s answer, “I have concepts of a plan,” was likened by Colbert to a dad’s vague dinner plans for his kids on a weekend. “Beer has wheat and ketchup is a vegetable,” Colbert joked.

Stephen Colbert also referenced a recent report stating that Donald Trump campaign officials were upset with ABC News for fact-checking false claims about migrants eating dogs in Ohio.

Colbert humorously noted, “Well, yeah, I can imagine. I can imagine. I can imagine his campaign is pretty upset because while migrants may not be eating dogs, with his debate performance, tonight Trump did eat a Philly turd steak.”

He praised Harris’s debate performance as one of the best he had ever seen, adding that there was nothing that could have made the night better for her—except, of course, for the unexpected endorsement from Taylor Swift.

Colbert excitedly revealed, “She has just posted that she watched the debate tonight and that she is endorsing Kamala Harris,” prompting cheers and applause from the audience.
