NORTHWEST, WASHINGTON: Steven Schwartz, an 85-year-old man, has been arrested for fatally stabbing his 81-year-old wife during an argument over pancakes. The investigation unveiled that they were in the 40th year of their marriage, which tragically came to an end.

During a recent court hearing, Schwartz pleaded not guilty and provided details about the conversation that took place between them. The court explored how he used a knife in the incident.

Steven Schwartz faces murder charges

In the preliminary on-site inquiry, compelling evidence was gathered, leading to the arrest of Schwartz on charges of second-degree murder while armed.

Subsequently, the accused, Steven, was presented at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, where he entered a plea of not guilty.

Attorney Matthew Graves, as per the report, indicated that Schwartz "did not wish to eat the pancakes [the victim] prepared and instead stabbed her in the back," as per Foxnews.

According to Timesnownews, it was revealed that Steven was dealing with issues of eating diversion and depression, a fact he acknowledged during police interrogation.

The Schwartz couple, reportedly married for 40 years, informed investigators that Steven expressed a desire for death but professed his love for his wife. Additionally, he claimed that the killing was a delusion during the investigation.

And Judge Sherry Trafford ruled there was probable cause linking Steven to the crime and he was sentenced to be held without bail until his preliminary hearing which is scheduled for January 02, 2024.

What happened at the crime scene?

Upon receiving a stabbing report, police arrived at the crime scene around 3:40 pm on Sunday, December 11, discovering injuries sustained by the Schwartz couple.

Steven exhibited self-inflicted injuries, while Sharron had been stabbed and killed inside her apartment on Cocoran Street NW.

Initially, the police incorrectly stated that a man with self-inflicted injuries had been found, but upon further investigation, it was clarified that Steven was the one with self-inflicted injuries.

The couple was swiftly transported to a hospital, where Sharron succumbed to her fatal stabbing.
