BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: LSU star Angel Reese recorded another double-double during the Tigers' victory over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in their NCAA Tournament second-round matchup on Sunday, March 24.

Anastasiia Boldyreva, the Middle Tennessee center with whom Reese had been engaged in a hard struggle the whole game, was fouled by the crafty player in the third quarter.

Despite being behind at the half, LSU managed to rally and won the game 83-56 to make it to the Sweet 16 round, per Daily Mail. However, what has sparked responses is Reese's gesture toward an opponent.

Angel Reese waves 'goodbye' to Middle Tennessee State player

Anastasiia Boldyreva of MTSU fouled out of the game at one point in the third quarter after battling Reese the entire evening.

After being thrown to the ground, Reese was seen 'waving goodbye' to her now-suspended MTSU adversary. The celebrity then raised her hands in the air to energize the Baton Rouge crowd at the Pete Maravich Athletics Center.

Reese scored 10 of LSU's points during their 16-0 run in the meantime. Reese, who was valued at $1.8 million NIL (as per On3), finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists on 35.3% shooting.

Later, Reese wrote on social media about the attention her wave was getting. "Clickbait everything i do keep going viral," Reese tweeted on Sunday night.

The wave occurred almost a year after Reese was spotted cheering and pointing at her ring finger in the national championship game of 2023, right in front of Iowa star Caitlin Clark. LSU defeated Iowa in the national championship game.

In the Sweet 16, the Tigers will play the victor of UCLA versus Creighton. The Hawkeyes and Tigers might play in the regional final if Iowa defeats West Virginia and then Colorado, per Fox News.

Fans unimpressed by Angel Reese's 'goodbye' gesture

Reese's action did not sit well with some collegiate basketball fans, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize her, with one exclaiming, "Such a clown."

A second added, "She’s the most unlikable athlete in college sports. She fits right in with her HC."

"Fouled out” after Angel kicked the girl and then threw herself on the floor the refs in this game were probably from the same firm that Mulkey hired her attorney from," mocked a third X user.

Slamming the athlete, another said, "Waving goodbye while you’re up 6 on an 11 seed isn’t the flex you think it is Angel. Not to mention the flop."

Someone else wrote on X, "I just watched it again and holy sh*t that was some Oscar-winning acting from Angel Reese Then she waves goodbye to Boldyreva. Have some class girl goddamn. Trash talking is good but you can’t flop and then taunt someone."

"Waving because she knows they don't win this game if MT doesn't have foul trouble all game. #divingchamps," another said.

"LSU is barely beating Middle Tennessee State, and she’s acting like this? That’s all I need to know," stated a user.

Another enraged fan wrote, "Give her an Emmy because that was a complete acting job. Disgusting that the refs fell for it. Angel Reese is not good for women’s basketball, I don’t care what anyone says. She’s a dirty, classless player with very little skill."
