BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese took to social media on Tuesday to criticize those who she claimed were using artificial intelligence to create NSFW images of her.

The 2023 NCAA champion said on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, March 19, that there were fake AI images of her, but she withheld any further information.

"Creating fake AI pictures of me is crazy and weird AF!" Reese wrote in a post.

The SEC Player of the Year is making the most out of a difficult circumstance despite the violation of privacy, all the while announcing that she would never post a nude photo to social media.

In a follow-up message, she stated, "Like I know I’m fine & seem to have an appeal to some but I’m literally 21 and yall doing this bs when I would neverrrrrr."

Angel Reese is not the first popular figure to have AI-generated images

The 'Bayou Barbie' is not the first famous person whose resemblance has been used in offensive, artificial intelligence (AI) graphics. Taylor Swift fans collectively reported social media accounts that circulated fake images of the musician in January.

X barred Taylor Swift searches when sexually explicit AI-generated photos of the international pop sensation started to circulate on social media earlier this year, per Fox News.

After allegedly suspending at least one account linked to the photos, the platform seemed to take criticism seriously and responded to users' posts by alerting them that sharing "non-consensual nudity (NCN) images is strictly prohibited on X, and we have a zero-tolerance policy towards such content."

Podcaster and media celebrity Bobbi Althoff was also recently victimized when lewd photos of her appeared online in February 2024.

The outcry from fans and celebrities over the proliferation of AI-generated and "deepfake" illicit images online is probably going to last until software models are controlled.

The purported Reese pictures surface when LSU is vying for a national title for the second time in a row. Reese and the No 3 seed Lady Tigers will take on the No 14 Rice Owls in the NCAA Tournament's opening round on March 22.

Reese, a junior with one more season left on her eligibility, is averaging a double-double for the third straight year. The Baltimore native has not stated if she intends to register for the April 15, 2024, WNBA Draft in Brooklyn, per New York Post.

Internet has mixed reactions to Angel Reese's apparent AI-generated images

Social media users had mixed reactions to Reese's AI-generated images, with one supporting the young athlete by saying, "Another reason why generative AI is extremely dangerous"

A second one echoed a similar concern and said, "You have a lot more to gain and people are trying to knock you off your square. Stay focused princess."

"You are the queen of Basketball. You are working towards your goals, while they are digging their holes. Big up Star," motivated a third supporter.

Another one exclaimed, "Let your fans handle the haters. We got em for you. Don't you worry about that. Let's get that trophy one mo 'gin. Go Tigers !!!"

On the other hand, there was an array of Internet users who mocked Reese for claiming the NSFW images as AI-generated, with one stating, "Everyone going to use that excuse"

"Too bad those eyelashes aren’t fake AI generated too," mocked a second one.

One more added, "Yeah and she's a classy player pretty cool they did "it's a bugs life" parody porn though! She'll fit right in"
