WASHINGTON, DC: In a recent interview with Dana Bash on CNN's 'State of the Union', Ohio Senator JD Vance faced tough questions regarding his support for former President Donald Trump, as per The Daily Beast.

Vance, attempted to defend the White House hopeful against accusations of antisemitism, but stumbled after conveniently overlooking a critical detail—Trump's associations with known antisemites, including Nick Fuentes, an "avowed antisemite."

During the Sunday, May 12 interview, the Vice Presidential contender was pressed over his support for Trump's controversial remarks regarding Jewish voters who backed President Joe Biden.

Trump had reportedly suggested that such voters should be "ashamed of themselves" following Biden's conditional approach to US aid to Israel.

Bash pointed out that Trump's rhetoric included historic antisemitic tropes, saying, "The notion of saying to Jews, 'You should put Israel first and what happens in Israel first,' and not sort of consider them American citizens first, has been used as an antisemitic trope."

She added, "Do you recognize that there, and perhaps that language isn’t exactly on point when you’re talking about something that is very—it’s like a tinderbox right now?"

Vance, however, went on to boldly assert that Trump never specifically targeted Jewish Americans, despite the former president's numerous remarks aimed at the community.

"I don't think anybody could look at the presidency in the conduct of Donald Trump and say this is a person who's somehow antisemitic," said the Ohio senator, casually ignoring Trump's infamous dinner with Fuentes and Kanye West back in November 2022.

When Bash brought up the Mar-a-Lago dinner, Vance had no response and instead tried to deflect the conversation by labeling Biden a "disaster" for the US. This wasn't the first time the lawmaker was caught off-guard during a media appearance.

Just days prior, Kaitlan Collins had confronted Vance in a tense interview, challenging his stance on campus protesters and his support for those who took part in the January 6 Capitol Hill insurrection, revealing what she termed a "double standard" in Vance's positions.

Internet slams JD Vance as he disregards Donald Trump's apparent association with antisemites

Vance's disregard for Trump's associations with supposed antisemites did not go unnoticed, and the netizens were quick to criticize the senator for his defense of Trump.

One wrote, "Makes me curious as to what degree he ‘embellished’ Hillbilly Elegy, given the fact that his penchant for lying just comes so naturally. Thinking he’s as much a fraud is TFG."

"Vance is such a idiot, he should be aware that anything Trump touches becomes obsolete. No one trusts republicans associated with Trump, not even other republicans," remarked a person.

Someone else added, "Should we be surprised at the endless clowning of @JDVance1? He’s a Trump bootlick and a sellout to his wealthy donors. He doesn’t give a s**t about Ohio voters."

An individual bluntly stated, "@JDVance1 truly is a moron as well as a liar. Trump consistently pushes antisemitism," and one more said, "Lying Liar - the only qualification you need to get on Lying Trump's short list of sycophants."

"@JDVance1, who previously condemned Trump, can’t stop his unprincipled brown-nosing now and is an embarrassment to Ohio," mentioned another person, while a netizen pointed out, "JD Vance is so stupid he keeps on telling Dana Bash to look at the record of Joe Biden. Doesn’t he need to look at Trump's record first?"

Lastly, one remarked, "@JDVance1 is a complete and utter joke, not to mention an oxygen thief."
