'Such self-centered grotesqueness': Internet backs pro-Palestinian protesters as they disrupt Chelsea Handler's comedy show

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Comedian Chelsea Handler had her Friday night show in Virginia on April 19 interrupted by several women who protested her steadfast support of Israel throughout the Israel-Gaza war.

Accoring to The Wrap, the protestors were apparently connected to the organization 'Here 4 The Kids', that works toward gun reform in the United States and to combat climate change. Their website states that they "are currently seeing the indiscriminate slaughter of Palestinian children with our United States tax dollars, which is both unforgivable and causing profound fractures within our own democracy.”

Video of incident goes viral

A clip uploaded on Instagram by the account Race2Dinner shows a woman yelling at Handler, who first replies, “I can’t hear you,” before adding, “Oh, honey, please. This is not what this night is for.”

The performer then asks for the woman to be removed from among the audience, but similar calls soon echo from other members as well, leading to a coordinated protest. One audience member is heard calling out, "Palestinian babies — you’re a genocide supporter, genocide supporter!”

Some audience members are seen helping authorities identify the protesters, as one of them addresses back saying, “You guys should be this angry about genocide, not people standing up! Be angry about genocide. Be angry about genocide. Be angry about genocide, and people dying — children are dying with our tax dollars."

The caption the post on Instagram read, "If you want to see what it looks like for white women to actually DO the work rather than sitting back, posting black squares and listening and learning, this is it. Shut down white feminists everywhere, at all times. Last night, a ton of white women sprung into ACTION to disrupt Chelsea Handler, a loud and proud Zionist, show in Richmond, VA."

"The mostly white audience got violent, poured wine on protestors, put hands on protestors, tripped protestors, the cops were called and one was arrested," it continued. "White women against genocide need to be doing more of THIS and less obsessing about feelings."
