Susan Sarandon transforms into older Sabrina Carpenter in ‘iconic’ Coachella 2026 cameo
INDIO, CARPENTER: Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella 2026 set had no shortage of surprises, but one moment truly caught fans off guard.
During her headlining performance on Friday, April 10, Hollywood legend Susan Sarandon appeared on stage, not as herself, but as an “older” version of the pop star.

Susan Sarandon stuns as older Sabrina Carpenter in theatrical segment
The unexpected cameo quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the night.
Sarandon, 79, appeared almost unrecognizable as she transformed into a future version of Carpenter. Sitting behind the wheel of a vintage car, she sported blonde hair and a chic white outfit, closely mirroring the singer’s aesthetic.

The performance leaned heavily into a cinematic concept, styled like a nostalgic drive-in theater. Sarandon delivered a long monologue from the car, reflecting on “her” younger days, essentially stepping into Carpenter’s persona years down the line.
At one point, the character shared how her niece views her, saying, “Aunt Sabrina is happy, but she doesn't smile.”
While many fans called the moment “iconic,” others online admitted the extended monologue slowed the pace of the show.
What made Sarandon's cameo more significant is Carpenter's reference to the former's looks from 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' in her 2025 'Tears' music video.

Star-studded cameos elevate Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella set
Sarandon wasn’t the only surprise of the night.
The segment also featured cameo appearances from actor Corey Fogelmanis, who played a waiter trying to clock out, adding a layer of humor to the staged sequence.
Meanwhile, Sam Elliott appeared as a cop in another eerie scene, pulling over a younger version of Carpenter and questioning her destination.
Comedian Will Ferrell also joined the lineup of unexpected guests, making the already ambitious set feel even bigger.

The entire performance leaned into a blend of storytelling, nostalgia, and theatrical visuals, turning Carpenter’s set into more than just a concert.
Susan Sarandon’s Coachella cameo comes amid blackballing claims
Sarandon’s appearance also drew attention given her recent comments about her career.
The actress had previously claimed she was effectively blacklisted from Hollywood after speaking out about Gaza and calling for a ceasefire.
“I was fired by my agency specifically for marching and speaking out about Gaza - for asking for a ceasefire and it became impossible for me to even be on television,” she said at a recent press conference.
She added, “I don't know lately if it's changed, [but] I couldn't do any major film, anything connected with Hollywood.”
Sarandon also revealed that even international opportunities had been affected. “This Italian director that just hired me, he was told not to hire me,” she said. “So that's still recently. He didn't listen, but they had that conversation.”
Sabrina Carpenter delivers bold, high-energy headline performance
Beyond the cameos, Carpenter made sure her own performance stayed front and center.
The 26-year-old embraced a bold old Hollywood-inspired theme throughout her set, complete with glitzy visuals and dramatic staging.
She turned heads in a see-through black lace bodysuit during the final segment of the show, sending fans into a frenzy.
Carpenter closed her performance with a medley of her hit songs, including 'Juno,' 'Espresso,' and 'Goodbye,' as the crowd erupted with excitement.
The show ended on a cinematic note, with Carpenter seen leaving in a vintage car tying back perfectly to the drive-in theater concept introduced earlier.
