Swifties call out woman who booked 191 hotel rooms in New Orleans, compare Eras Tour to failed Fyre Fest
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Taylor Swift super fan Rebecca Fox is being called out by fellow Swifties after the unofficial gathering organized by her in New Orleans ahead of the pop icon's Eras Tour stop massively bombed, the Daily Mail reported on Friday, November 1.
Fox initially went viral for booking 191 hotel rooms in the city ahead of the singer's concert, which she claimed was an effort to protect fans from outrageous increases in hotel prices at the time of the event, which took place from October 25 to 27.

After attending one of the concerts in Arizona and noticing the astronomical hotel prices, Fox paid nearly $500 per room to secure affordable accommodations for other fans, stating… pic.twitter.com/zGCQi5kZr3
However, she also made arrangements for her own Swiftie convention, and charged the guests extra money on top of the hotel fee, promising them a fun Taylor-Swift-themed weekend. Soon afterward, attendees began to share their experience over social media claiming that Fox had failed to deliver.
What did Rebecca Fox promise her guests?
Rebecca Fox reportedly promised those getting hotel accommodations from her a Taylor Swift-themed goodie bag, as well as a pool party with a DJ and cocktails, scavenger hunts, a talent show, a karaoke party, friendship bracelet making, and a swamp tour.

The package came with an additional charge ranging from $40 to $150, brunch included, according to Whiskey Riff, along with the almost $500 hotel room fee and $25 deposit. Fox claimed that she was not surcharging but simply wanted to spend time with like-minded Swifties.
Following the event, however, Swifties were left furious and claimed that not only did Fox fail to deliver on her promises, but also essentially charged them extra for free hotel amenities.

Complaints against Rebecca Fox
Many fans opened up about their horrible experiences on social media, including a TikToker with the username 'jump4js' who created a five-part series around it. Rebecca Fox was in charge of a private Facebook group of fans staying at the hotel, where she allegedly behaved rudely with the guests.
"She would threaten to kick people out of the group, she would threaten to cancel their hotel room" if people wanted to attend outside events held in the city, explained the content creator.
If fans wished not to attend her events or stay in their rooms, Fox demanded that they provide their concert tickets to her before issuing a refund. Since concert tickets started from $1200, the guests were confused about how it was even being considered comparable with the room.

Probably the WILDEST thing that’s come out is this claim that said organizer was requiring people to GIVE HER THEIR TICKETS in order to cancel their room. pic.twitter.com/mNMXIKeMhj
Rebecca Fox's failed event compared to the 2017 Fyre Festival
Reports have compared Rebecca Fox's failed event to the infamous Fyre Festival of 2017, which led to its organizer Billy McFarland spending almost four years in jail.
According to Sky News, guests were charged thousands of dollars at the time for what was advertised as a party for a young, elite crowd on the island of Great Exuma in the Bahamas. The reality was far from it, as they arrived to disaster relief tents and soggy food.
Pictures of stranded festival-goers surfaced, turning it into a viral disaster, and leading to several lawsuits and criminal investigations into McFarland.

"My attorney is out of the country for two weeks. As badly as I want to be transparent, and share some things that people don’t know, I have to heed his advice and wait to give an official statement until he returns."
She insisted that her actions did not have any "ill-intent," and acknowledged her shortcomings by saying, "I know I failed. I’ve admitted I failed.”
