Ted Cruz felt 'like a kid in a bitter divorce' as he watched 'pissed' Trump fume over Elon Musk's barbs

WASHINGTON, DC: As the war of words between Donald Trump and Elon Musk escalated last week, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) weighed in with a dose of concern.
On the June 6 episode of his podcast, Cruz revealed he had been with the president and admitted he's troubled by the high-profile fallout between the one-time allies.
Joined by co-host Ben Ferguson, Cruz delved into the drama and expressed unease over the escalating feud.
Ted Cruz had a front-row seat as the Donald Trump-Elon Musk feud boiled over
Ted Cruz found himself uncomfortably close to the action on Thursday last week as Donald Trump fumed over a barrage of online attacks from tech billionaire Elon Musk.
“I was sitting in the Oval as this unfolded. Trump was pissed. He was venting,” Cruz said at the 6:20 mark on his 'Verdict with Ted Cruz' podcast, according to the New York Post. The senator likened the spectacle to being a child caught in the middle of a bitter divorce.

“These are two men whom I know very well, they’re both good friends of mine,” Cruz said. “I feel like the kids of a bitter divorce where you’re just saying, 'I really wish mommy and daddy would stop screaming.'"
The senator described the very public fallout as “incredibly painful” to watch, adding that the feud erupted “from zero to 11” almost instantly. Cruz shared, “These are two alpha males who are pissed off. And unfortunately, they’re unloading on each other … They’re angry, it’s not complicated.”

Joined by podcast co-host Ferguson, Cruz attempted to unpack the clash, agreeing with parts of both men’s arguments.
Ferguson chimed in, “Unfortunately, Elon is working under the assumption that Congress actually wants to do the job and save our country. And I think Trump is working under the reality that there’s a lot of people in Congress that actually aren’t looking out for the American people.”
Internet reacts to Ted Cruz’s comments on the Donald Trump-Elon Musk feud
Ted Cruz's remarks on the fiery feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk sparked a wave of reactions online, with many internet users chiming in on both his comments and the dramatic fallout between the once-close allies.

One questioned, "Did you suggest he just let Elon rant about the bill and Congress instead of making a personal bickering match?" and another wrote, "I want them both to stop. We need to remain united."
A person speculated, "Elon and the President are playing the democrats and media extremely well. I wonder when they planned this 'feud,'" whereas someone else quipped, "Were you the cause of the breakup?"
An individual took a jab at Cruz, writing, "🤣 You're so pathetic. You just want to seem important. 'I, Ted Cruz, was in the actual Oval Office when something happened. I was right there! With the orange clown! Right next to him!' Please get a life. You're just sad."
"Love both these guys, but America's bigger than any one feud. Time to rise above, gentlemen," another tweet read.

What is happening between Donald Trump and Elon Musk?
While Donald Trump is pushing his so-called “big, beautiful” budget bill, Elon Musk has slammed it as reckless spending and called for more aggressive deficit reduction.
Musk’s attacks on Trump escalated over several days, with the SpaceX and Tesla CEO calling the president’s proposed reconciliation bill “disgusting” and urging lawmakers to kill it.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate,” Musk claimed in a heated social media post after Trump responded to the rift, as per the New York Post.

By the end of the week, tensions reached new heights. Trump hinted at scrapping billions in government contracts tied to Musk’s companies, while the Tesla CEO accused Trump of hiding links to Jeffrey Epstein.
The Tesla chief later deleted that explosive claim, suggesting he might be stepping back — but Trump wasn’t ready to forgive or forget. “I have no intention of speaking to him,” the president told NBC News on Saturday.
