WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) was called out by people on social media after she appeared to suggest that she was a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) hire.

The Democrat from Texas claimed that she got the job of a public defender with no experience because of her skin color, Breitbrat reported.

During a House Judiciary Subcommittee Oversight meeting on Wednesday, April 2, Crockett said, “When I first became a public defender, I had no criminal defense experience, and I walked in, and I told my boss, Charlie, I said, ‘Listen, you should hire me.’ He said, ‘Why?’ I said, ‘Because I’m Black.’”

Jasmine Crockett boasts she 'worked really hard' after being hired

The 44-year-old politician further shared that her boss “looked at me like I was crazy,” before adding, “Let me tell you something, when I walk in, I’m going to walk in with a level of rapport and understanding that maybe some of my other colleagues will not.”

“Charlie offered me the job,” Crockett happily claimed.

The congresswoman also noted that she “worked my b*** off." "I worked really, really hard for all of my clients.”

Jasmine Crockett called ‘a lunatic’ after she admits to being a DEI hire

Rep Jasmine Crockett's critics on social media, however, were not interested in her “hard work” but in her apparent admission to being a DEI hire.

Libs of TikTok tweeted, “INCREDIBLE. Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett publicly admits that she only got her job as a public defender because she was Black. Crockett is a DEI hire, CONFIRMED.”

One X user posted, “Crockett is actually proud about being DEI. What a lunatic.”

Another wrote, “Well that EXPLAINS IT ALL.... DEI HIRE! Unqualified for her current role.”

Conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk commented, “Jasmine Crockett brags about being a DEI hire.”

“We all knew she was nothing more than a DEI hire. She proves it every time she opens her mouth,” an individual said.

“She wears it like a badge of honor; you think she'd be ashamed that she didn't merit the position,” another remarked.

One person claimed, “You are exactly why, DEI needed to be eliminated. Skill, education, training and ability to perform in a particular position, needs to matter the most.”

A tweet read, “I don’t know what the truth is anymore. Is this to get attention? It could very well be true, but everything is so extraordinary that it’s hard to know.”

"This is just ridiculous. It’s disappointing to see someone reduce their success to just race. There are plenty of qualified people out there, and it’s frustrating when it feels like merit doesn’t matter anymore," another person added.
