NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden signed an executive order to expand the federal government’s research into women’s health on Monday, March 18.

According to The New York Times, the research areas would include midlife conditions like menopause, arthritis, and heart disease, as well as issues specifically affecting women in the military.

Federal agencies have been directed by Biden to ensure using federal funds to study health conditions and diseases that disproportionately affect women, in what the White House described as the “most comprehensive” action by a president on the subject.

Standing alongside the first lady, Jill Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris, the President said at the announcement, "There’s not a damn thing a man can do a woman can’t do. To state the obvious, if you want to have the strongest economy in the world, you can’t leave half of the country behind.”

Biden took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to share the news the very same day, posting from the official account of the POTUS.

"Women make up half of our population but women’s health research has been understudied and underfunded," he wrote. "That’s why I’m signing an Executive Order to ensure women’s health is prioritized across the federal research portfolio and budget."

It was followed by a poster that read, "President Biden Signs An Executive Order Directing the Most Comprehensive Set of Actions Ever Taken to Expand and Improve Research on Women's Health."
