CARSON CITY, NEVADA: Nikki Haley’s campaign has not spent a “dime” or “an ounce of energy” to contest the Nevada Republican presidential caucus, scheduled to happen on Thursday, February 8.

On Monday, February 5, Haley’s campaign manager Betsy Ankney revealed that the former South Carolina governor’s camp has not focused on the Silver State citing the state is “rigged for Trump.”

Why did Nikki Haley not focus on Nevada?

Nevada, which has historically held caucuses leading to the presidential race, has tweaked this year by conducting both primary and caucus.

The Nevada GOP decided to hold a primary on February 6 while carrying on with its usual caucus on February 8. As Haley is taking part in the state-run primary ballot on Tuesday, Donald Trump is appearing for the caucus on Thursday.

The two remaining GOP contenders for the Presidential candidature are thus, technically, not facing each other in Nevada.

Haley initially registered for the primary when other Republican candidates were also in the race, allegedly to avoid paying the $55,000 caucus registration fee.

In a recent interview with the press on Monday, February 5, Haley’s campaign manager Betsy Ankney, however, claimed that they never actually focused on Nevada.

Ankney said, “In terms of Nevada, we have not spent a dime nor an ounce of energy on Nevada. We made the decision early on that we were not going to pay $55,000 to a Trump entity … to participate in a process that was rigged for Trump.”

She further argued that “caucuses generally tend to benefit Trump, given the fact that he’s the former president," per New York Post.

She explained later, “So Nevada is not and has never been our focus. Truly not sure what the Trump team is out to there, but they seem pretty spun up about it,” before noting that they are rather focusing on the February 24 primary in the Palmetto State, saying, “But we are focused on South Carolina,” per The Hill.

Nikki Haley gets slammed for her campaign

The netizens slammed Nikki Haley for her allegedly failed campaign.

One of the social media users said, "In short, Nevada Republicans established a dual caucus and primary system, favoring Trump."

"I dont understand why she hasn't dropped out yet...," mused someone else.

One user commented, "At this point Nikki Haley is only embarrassing herself. Taking over for Christie, she is now only funded by Democrats. Taking over for Christie. Taking over for Christie."

"Lol, they rigged it for her after DeSantis dropped out of the race after beating her in the primaries...😂🤣😆😆🤣😂😂🤣😅😅😂😂😂🤣," chimed in another social media user.

Another netizen declared, "That's an excuse for a losing campaign."
