CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA: Nikki Haley is claiming to be left unperturbed by the endorsements of former President Donald Trump by the elected officials from South Carolina.

The presidential hopeful recently spoke at a rally in Conway, where she claimed she does not "want" their backing, as per The Hill.

Several of South Carolina's political figures endorsed Trump under the leadership of the state's Republican Governor, Henry McMaster.

On Sunday, January 28, while addressing the crowd at the rally in Conway, Haley shared, "So the press asked me, 'Well, what do you think about the fact that your … Governor in South Carolina came and stood behind … Donald Trump with all the other South Carolina elected officials?'"

Referring to McMaster, she said, "And I said, 'I'm sorry, do you mean the one I defeated when I ran for governor?'"

Notably, Haley beat McMaster to become the state's Governor in 2010. In 2014, McMaster was elected to become the lieutenant governor under Haley until she resigned in 2017 to become a United States ambassador to the United Nations.

McMaster went on to win two consecutive elections in 2018 and 2022 and is currently serving as the 117th governor of South Carolina.

Haley continued to slam him, saying, "Do you mean the Speaker of the House and those elected officials that I forced to have to show their votes on the record when they were trying to hide behind voice votes?"

She added, "Do you mean that same political group that I forced to pass ethics reform and made them show where their income comes from?"

Haley asserted, "The same group that I banned half a billion dollars worth of pet projects that they were upset about that group," and later added, "You can have them, I don’t want them."

She presumably referred to two of the South Carolina General Assembly bills passed in 2015 that required lawmakers to disclose their independent income.

The former South Carolina Governor further mentioned two of the state's Senators—Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham— who endorsed Trump.

Haley noted, "You’re going to sit there and have Lindsey Graham stand up next to you, and we’re supposed to say, 'Oh, that’s what we need to be doing.' And I’m just going to let the one on Tim Scott go. That's up to y'all. I’m not going to say anything about it. We have to live with our decisions."

Netizens mock Nikki Haley for claiming she doesn't need endorsements of elected South Carolina officials

Soon after Haley's remarks from the Conway event made it to the internet, netizens took jabs at her for dismissing the officials endorsing Trump.

One quipped, "She says this, and then locks herself in a closet and cries," and another added, "Like she had a choice."

"Nikki Haley is not running for president she is simply there to be disruptive. The same people who tried to buy Kari Lake out of the Senate race are financing Nikki Haley," opined a person.

Someone else declared, "Her campaign dies there."

"Haley came in a distant second in New Hampshire because democrats, who won’t cross over in the national election, voted for her. Now she’s dismissing elected republican leaders in her home state. Maybe she’s trying to replace Kamala Harris as the democrat VP nominee," remarked an individual.

One more noted, "Yep, she’s definitely not the person for the job!" and another person added, "Nobody wants you Haley. Not even democrats. They are just using you to try to beat Trump."
