‘The Boys’ star Erin Moriarty quits Instagram after Megyn Kelly comments about her alleged plastic surgery
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Following Erin Moriarty's criticism of Megyn Kelly for making baseless assertions that she had multiple cosmetic treatments, the 'Boys' star's Instagram account has gone silent.
In an intensely emotional message on Friday, January 26, Moriarty, 29, clarified that she would not be deleting her social media account, but rather taking an "extensive, if not permanent," hiatus.
The recent Instagram drama happened a week after Kelly caused controversy by saying of Moriarty during a recent podcast appearance: "She's got the Kim Kardashian lips, she's made her nose so skinny, it looks like a pencil now... I find it like a sign of mental illness," per Daily Mail.

Erin Moriarty declared fans and haters 'lost privilege' of her Instagram account
Instead of completely deleting her Instagram account, Moriarty opted to leave her critical remark for 53-year-old Megyn Kelly visible to her followers.

The 'Boys' star wrote in the lengthy Instagram post: "The only reason I have not deactivated my account is because I will be leaving this [statement] here. Otherwise, consider it deactivated. I will not have access to it for an extensive if not permanent break."
Although Moriarty feels that social media allows her to interact with her followers and post updates, she has chosen to put her job first and informed both fans and critics that they had "lost the privilege of this account."
The actress wrote in part: "Social media is not something that came naturally to me and that was an investment of energy to connect with you guys. And I am horrified by the reaction, the reductive assumptions, and the aforementioned video [of Kelly’s comments] that is a primary example of such harassment."
"It’s broken my heart. You’ve broken my heart. You’ve lost the privilege of this account."
Internet users might believe whatever they wanted, said Moriarty, but the allegations by Kelly were "absolutely false."
She referred to the former Fox News host's message as "exhibitionist feminism" and said, "The way that this has been spoken about, the way that I have been spoken to, I will not accept."
Moriarty clarified: "I have been in a hole and I’ve been consumed by this personal situation at hand. You never know what someone is going through, social media is a platform that is not representative of a whole person, and irregardless there is no excuse for the words that have been spoken directly to me or about me."
Erin Moriarty clarified Megyn Kelly's released 'before' and 'after' photos
In a lengthy tirade, 53-year-old Kelly discussed Moriarty's appearance on the January 17 broadcast of her own SiriusXM program, saying the actress underwent injections and plastic surgery to "completely change her face."
"She’s got the Kim Kardashian lips. She’s made her nose so skinny it looks like a pencil now. She’s got, like, what appear to me to be cheek implants," Kelly remarked. "More and more young women are doing this."
Then, in a shocking statement, the ousted NBC personality referred to finishing work as "a sign of mental illness," per Page Six.
In order to emphasize Moriarty's change, Kelly also displayed what she claimed to be "before" and "after" photos of the 'Boys' actress from a year ago and the present.
In Friday's Instagram post, Moriarty stated that Kelly's "before" photo did not even feature her age of 21, and that the "after" photo featured makeup applied.
She further wrote, "This is something I truly never anticipated writing. We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things."
"To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner — to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified."
In her final social media message, Moriarty urged Kelly to step down for disseminating false information.
"Implying my photo is reflective of women being in a worse place is as false as my conviction in saying that if you resigned, you would be leaving women in a better place," she concluded her post.
