LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Schneider is facing intense criticism and a Secret Service investigation over an inflammatory social media post targeting President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

The actor, best known for playing Bo Duke on 'The Dukes of Hazzard', called for the public execution of Biden and Hunter in a now-deleted post on X at 2 am on Thursday, December 21 morning.

Despite later denying that he intended to threaten violence, Schneider's comments have drawn widespread condemnation as well as the opening of a formal probe, as reported by TMZ.

John Schneider's inflammatory post called for President Biden to be 'publicly hung'

"Mr President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung," Schneider wrote in a reply to a Biden post defending investigations into former president Donald Trump. "Your son too. Your response is..? Sincerely, John Schneider," the actor added.

The inflammatory post came as conservative media outlets like Fox News rallied behind Republican efforts to impeach President Biden over alleged corruption. For months, the GOP has been probing Hunter Biden's business dealings to find misconduct by the president, though some Republicans worry the investigations have come up empty.

Schneider's own history contains controversy tied to partisan loyalty. He spent six seasons starring as Bo Duke on 'The Dukes of Hazzard' until 1985. When the show's Confederate iconography led TV Land to pull its reruns in 2015, Schneider lashed out against "politically correct" critics.

His objections overlooked the racist connotations behind Confederate symbols like the battle flag displayed on the Duke boys' car, the General Lee.

John Schneider's inflammatory rhetoric triggers Secret Service investigation

According to sources cited by Deadline, Schneider's inflammatory rhetoric was enough to trigger an initial Secret Service investigation. Threatening bodily harm against a president carries potential criminal penalties under federal law.

In a follow-up statement, Schneider denied his comments constituted a threat. “I absolutely did not call for an act of violence or threaten as US president,” he said, adding, “It’s my position, which I am entitled to have, that some of our nations leaders in Washington have lost their way, and corruption runs rampant, both on our nation’s borders and abroad."

Schneider claimed his rhetoric called merely for "accountability" and harbored no implied threat.

Internet shreds John Schneider for his remarks about Biden

Following news of the Secret Service investigation into John Schneider's controversial remarks, the internet erupted with a wave of reactions, with most slamming the 'The Dukes of Hazzard' star.

One user's scathing commentary highlighted a trend among former stars aligning with divisive figures, "What's with all the washed-up, 3rd-rate, C-list, out-of-work former stars fawning over DonT? It seems so desperate. They all look very 'rode hard and put away wet' as they say in cowboy terms. I know age takes a toll, apparently hate does too."

Drawing a stark parallel, another remarked, "Looks like John Schneider's acting career isn't the only thing going up in flames."

Amid the uproar, a third user dismissed Schneider's defense, stating, "He's in his own denial, when everyone saw the threat he posted to the President of the United States."

Addressing the larger issue of accountability, another individual urged for action, asserting, "Good and we must stop this insanity and make those stating this accountable for their words of influence."

One user bluntly commented, "Good. What a jackass."
