NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar showed support for former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's recent claim that she was abandoned by female voters ahead of the 2016 general elections.

In a recent interview published by The New York Times to promote her upcoming book, 'The Fall of Roe: The Rise of a New America,' Clinton said that female voters "left me because they just couldn’t take a risk on me, because as a woman, I’m supposed to be perfect. They were willing to take a risk on Trump — who had a long list of, let’s call them flaws … because he was a man, and they could envision a man as president and commander in chief."

Sunny Hostin praises 'brilliant woman' Hillary Clinton

Hostin said that the former First Lady "pointed to the sexism that was so obvious because she was the most qualified candidate that I think we ever had."

"We are talking senator, we are talking Secretary of State, we are talking lawyer, valedictorian of her class. I mean, just a brilliant woman," she elaborated. "And what was disappointing to me though is that she said, 'Women did not turn out for me."

"Well, you know, 90-some per cent of Black women turned out for her, 60-something percent of Hispanic women turned out for her. There were 53 per cent of White women that turned to Trump, I will never understand that statistic actually," grimaced Hostin. "And I hope that does not happen again."

"I think it’s very, very important that people understand what an existential threat this man (Trump) is to women in particular," she concluded.

Joy Behar says women leaders are expected to be 'perfect'

Behar supported Clinton's claim that voters had set a very high bar for her during her bid for the White House. "A lot of people, including women, think a woman running in that position has to be perfect. It’s like Obama. It reminds me of the situation with Obama," she said, picking up the discussion after Hostin.

"That guy is a perfect specimen in so many ways, you couldn’t get a more perfect specimen and I mean, he’s this very smart, he loves his wife, he was..." she went on, before co-host Griffin interjected with, "Just say you think he’s sexy."
