WASHINGTON, DC: The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump PAC, recently released an advertisement going after the former President, hoping to capitalize on the social media uproar around the hashtag ‘#TrumpSmells’.

The anti-Trump organization posted the ad to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, December 23, along with the message "Is that you Donald?" with the hashtag ‘#TrumpSmells’.

The 40-second video ridicules Trump, the GOP presidential front-runner in 2024, with a sequence of notably foul-smelling sights such as garbage dumps, animal feces, soiled diapers, and moldy cheese.

What’s the context behind Lincoln Project’s recent advertisement?

The hashtag ‘#TrumpSmells’ has garnered attention following a statement made by former Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) earlier this month.

Kinzinger, a frequent political opponent of former President Trump, wrote on X, “I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor. It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can.”

In response to Kinzinger's claims, a Trump spokesperson told the Independent, “Adam Kinzinger farted on live TV and is an unemployed fraud,” adding, “He has disgraced his country and disrespects everyone around him because he is a sad individual who is mad about how his miserable life has turned out.”

The political advocacy group, primarily composed of Republicans, created the advertisement titled ‘Limburger’ to thwart Donald Trump's bid for the presidency come 2024.

The ad features a person sniffing, coughing, and retching at various smells while voice-overs are played in the background.

As the camera pans to the front of Trump Tower in New York, a deep voice says, "claiming the former president smells bad."

Another voice, belonging to comedian Kathy Griffin, is then heard saying, “The Donald has a distinct smell. It’s like, body odor, with kind of like a scented make-up product.”

The ad concludes with a generic female voice sniffing, coughing, and grimacing before asking “Donald, is that you?” accompanied by the sound of buzzing flies.

Internet slams anti-Trump organization for attack on former POTUS

People on X and most likely, supporters of Donald Trump, let their reaction to this advertisement known, as the political advocacy group was criticized for going after the former president sans any political discourse or merit.

One X user wrote, “They are pathetic. Obviously getting desperate too. LOL"

Another user said, "They must be very desperate to go that low."

Another user remarked, "Asinine and juvenile"

One X user said, "Wow the anti Trumpers sure are desperate."

"This is a campaign strategy?" another user asked.

One user tweeted, "That's literally all they have left on him. His poll numbers keep going up no matter what happens, so they're resorting to kindergarten insults in desperation."
