PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: The former US President, Donald Trump, has recently taken to his social media platform, Truth Social, demanding immunity from prosecution for presidents.

This came after he was ordered to pay $83.3 million to E Jean Carroll in the defamation trial which concluded on Friday, January 26.

Carroll is already planning how she will spend the big fortune, vowing to 'do good' with the millions, just over 24 hours after winning her second trial against the former POTUS.

Her legal representative, Roberta Kaplan, believes that the ex-president will be obliged to pay the full amount, even if this requires the sale of one of his properties or the acquisition of a loan.

On Saturday night, Trump unleashed his fury on Truth Social with a post in uppercase letters, expressing his anger.

The 77-year-old GOP presidential frontrunner wrote, “IF IMMUNITY IS NOT GRANTED TO A PRESIDENT, EVERY PRESIDENT THAT LEAVES OFFICE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY INDICTED BY THE OPPOSING PARTY. WITHOUT COMPLETE IMMUNITY, A PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY FUNCTION!”

Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he refrained from discussing the verdict delivered by a jury on Friday afternoon.

Instead, he utilized his four court cases to advance his presidential campaign.

“I'm being indicted for you. Look at yesterday, look at all this crap that's going on, but we keep marching forward, we just keep going and somehow it all works out,“ he said in his address to the gathering of his ever-ardent supporters.

Carroll, 80, is already making plans for how she would use her defamation payout, even though it might take up to a year for any money to materialize.

The columnist revealed to the New York Times, “I'm not going to waste a cent of this. We're going to do something good with it.”

“I'm going to be able to buy some premium dog food now,” she added. “You know, me and the dogs are going to get along just fine in our hovel but we're going to do something great with this money.”

Carroll contended that the verdict is one for women as a whole, “This win, more than any other thing, when we needed it the most — after we lost the rights over our own bodies in many states — we put out our flag in the ground on this one. Women won this one. I think it bodes well for the future.”

Carroll was given $60 million more in damages by the jury on Friday than she had anticipated, bringing the dramatic conclusion to the defamation trial.

Last year, a civil court jury found Trump guilty of sexually assaulting Carroll in a Manhattan department store, per a report by the Daily Mail.

Following her publication of her account of the purported encounter in 2019, Trump—who had already been elected president—told reporters that he was unaware of Carroll's identity, that her charge was "totally false," and that her motivation was just to sell books.

Carroll then filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump in 2019, claiming that his remarks against her were untrue and damaged her reputation.

She decided to sue Trump for defamation as a result of his later remarks.

In addition, she sued Trump for remarks he made about her following his departure from the White House.

Trump was forced to pay the money because he maintained that he had never met Carroll and accused her of lying when she accused him of sexually assaulting her.

Even Carroll, who wept and hugged her legal team after receiving tens of millions more than anticipated, was taken aback by the enormous damages awarded to her on Friday.

Internet reacts as Donald Trump went on a tirade

People on X sided with the Republican presidential frontrunner for demanding that former Presidents should have complete immunity from prosecutions.

One X user remarked, "Maybe you forgot, the American court system, allows an appeal of the verdict. More than likely, the whole award will be thrown out, because unlike the crooked NYC courts, the STATE Appellate court will allow all that the NYC court refused to allow."

Another user wrote, "This is Justice in the US of A. It is really pathetic!"

Another user said, "Just shows the justice system is politically motivated and currupt. charges dont mean anything anymore. $83.3million is obviously a political cash grab."

One user tweeted, "They are trying to destroy him because they know they can not win."

Another X user remarked, "Corrupt judge and fake trial. Hope Trump becomes President again."
