WASHINGTON, DC: Texas Gov Greg Abbott told a Manhattan gathering on Thursday, April 4, that his state will keep transporting illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities "until we get a new president" who focuses on securing the border, according to Fox News.

He made this statement just hours after New York City Mayor Eric Adams offered the Republican a complimentary stay at one of the city's migrant shelters and chastised him for how he handled the situation surrounding incoming immigrants.

At the New York Republican Party's annual gala, Abbott and other prominent Republicans criticized Adams and the Biden administration for the nation's migrant crisis.

"The complaining by Mayor Adams is nothing short [of] stunning. What he has is a tiny fraction of what Texas gets every day," told the Texas Gov to the attendees at the gathering, which took place a few blocks from a hotel that the Adams administration had converted into a center for accepting new immigrants.

Speaking about his decision to start busing illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities across the country, the GOP lawmaker explained that he had received concerns from a number of local officials in his state regarding the number of migrants being dropped off in their communities by federal authorities.

Abbott claimed that his initial plan was to transport the migrants to Washington, DC, as "neither Joe Biden nor the border czar [Vice President Harris] had actually been to the border to see the chaos and cost."

He noted, "My thought process was, if they’re not going to come to the border, we’re going to take the border to them"

Abbott added, "Quite literally out of nowhere, Eric Adams starts criticizing me for sending them to New York City. We made clear, by contacting his office, and said, ‘We’re not sending them to New York'. We issued press releases to the press saying we’re not sending migrants to New York — that’s Joe Biden sending them to New York."

The Gov claimed he made the decision to transform talk into reality when Empire State officials refused to retract their assertions.

He informed the attendees, "If I’m going to get the criticism, I want to get the credit. And thus began the busing of illegal immigrants to the sanctuary city of New York City."

The Republican declared, "We are going to have to maintain this process until we get a new president next November who will secure the border of the United States of America."

New York City has received around 180,000 migrants since 2022, creating an overwhelming situation for the city authorities. It's said that at least 107,000 have been transported from Texas, as per Fox News.

Internet reacts to Texas Gov Greg Abbott's assertion regarding busing migrants to sanctuary cities

One wrote, "Abbott needs to be thrown out of office!" while another added, "bus them back into Mexico."

A person asked, "Why not bus them back across the border?" Someone else expressed, "Stop doing this. Just deport them back to their country and dare the feds to stop you. If you can ship them to other cities in the country, ship them OUT."

"Conservatives are despicable. Deport them or shut up, you mewling worm," remarked an individual.
