HAMILTON, OHIO: The 28-year-old mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the tragic demise of her 4-year-old daughter, Nahla Miller, who was brutally beaten and strangled to death as per People.com.
Tianna Robinson pleaded guilty to an aggravated murder charge earlier this week. The sentencing, delivered by Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers, includes the possibility of parole after 30 years.
Additional details concerning the murder and the extent of the abuse inflicted upon the young toddler have been outlined throughout the investigation.
What happened to Nahla Miller?
According to the prosecutor, the mother Tianna Robinson hit Nahla because she wet herself when she was alone at home.
Psychologists said Robinson wasn't able to stand trial four times in 2021 and 2022 when she was at Summit Behavioral Healthcare, a psychiatric hospital.
They said she had major depressive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Nahla died when she was taken off life support on April 21, 2021.
Investigators believed Nahla had been hurt for many months. Her death was because she was strangled and hit, causing serious injuries inside her body.
Nahla weighed 23 pounds when she went to the hospital in 2021. Robinson first called the Springfield Township Police Department to say her daughter passed out. Later, she admitted to hitting and strangling her child.
Tianna Robinson charged with serious crimes
Melissa Powers, the prosecutor, shared the news nearly three years after the Ohio mother was charged with serious crimes.
These included aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and endangering children.
A spokesperson for Powers' office confirmed Robinson's plea deal.
The mother could have faced the death penalty if the case went to trial. Examinations showed that Nahla had been strangled and severely beaten.
She had a broken arm and brain injury consistent with being shaken, according to the prosecutor.
Powers described the murder as a terrible and unimaginable crime that deeply saddened him.
Powers claimed, “This was a horrific and unthinkable crime. My heart breaks for Nahla just imagining what she was forced to endure. Given the current state of the law in Ohio, ensuring this defendant will be locked up for the rest of her life represents the best possible outcome we could hope for."
Tianna Robinson’s boyfriend received 12 months in prison
Rensley Washington, who was said to be Robinson's boyfriend, was charged with obstructing justice and got 12 months in jail after admitting guilt.
He told investigators that the child fell off a scooter.
The former prosecutor said in a statement that he couldn't understand how anyone could hurt a child so badly, especially the child's own mother.
He said violence like this goes against all human instincts, especially those of parents.
He added, “These cases are exactly why I worked so hard in 1997 to help pass legislation making the purposeful murder of a child under the age of 13 a death penalty eligible offense.”
