PENNSYLVANIA: Tiffani Chanel Bogroff, 45, has found herself behind bars, facing charges of endangering the welfare of her own child.
The Pennsylvania mother stands accused of abandoning her 15-year-old son in their home, devoid of heat or running water, for an entire month while she embarked on a move to New Jersey with her boyfriend.
Police discover minor living alone in deplorable conditions during mother's absence
The appalling discovery was made by officers from the Manheim Township Police Department on January 12, revealing a minor living alone in unimaginable conditions.
The child, whose identity remains protected, detailed a month-long solitary existence with Bogroff making sporadic and unannounced returns.
The teen son told officers that his mother had allegedly been gone from the home for "about a month," only returning "on occasion," without making him aware of when that would be.
Shockingly, their sole means of communication was through the Messenger app.
The 15-year-old child's living conditions were dire, with no heat, gas, or hot water in the home. The victim resorted to a space heater in their bedroom for survival.
The press release highlighted the concerning condition of the residence, stating, “The house is cluttered, containing trash and spoiled/rotten food." Moreover, the son also had two dogs and a cat, per WKEF.
Tiffani Bogroff's sporadic CashApp support forces child to rely on relatives
Bogroff's inadequate financial assistance primarily consisted of sporadic CashApp transactions, compelling the child to find refuge at a relative's home for essential needs such as showering and washing clothes.
Despite these efforts, the child faced difficulties attending school consistently due to the challenges of living alone.
According to the police report, "The victim stated that they sometimes attend school, but they find it difficult to wake up in the morning since they are alone."
Furthermore, it was noted that Bogroff's son had been "reported absent and late to school a number of times."
Manheim police promptly issued an arrest warrant for Bogroff, resulting in her apprehension by the Pennsville Township Police Department in New Jersey.
Presently detained at the Salem County Correctional Facility, Bogroff awaits extradition with a pending child endangerment charge.
