WASHINGTON, DC: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz found himself under fire during a CNN interview on Thursday, August 29, where he was questioned about his past statements regarding his military service record, as per Daily Mail.

Despite the growing controversy, Walz attempted to deflect the criticism by appealing to his candid and emotional communication style. However, his explanations have done little to ease the backlash.

During the interview, Tim Walz was questioned about his misleading claims from 2018, where he stated that he had carried "weapons of war" in battle during a discussion on gun control.

At the time, Walz had asserted, "We can make sure that those weapons of war that I carried in war is the only place where those weapons are at," despite the fact that he had never been deployed overseas.

When confronted about this misleading portrayal of his service, Walz responded by emphasizing his straightforward communication style.

"My record speaks for itself but I think as people are coming to know me I speak like they do. I speak candidly, I wear my emotions on my sleeves," he said, attempting to brush off the question.

Walz also attempted to downplay the significance of his incorrect statement by joking about his grammar, referencing his wife's criticism.

"My wife the English teacher tells me my grammar is not always correct," he added, steering the conversation away from the crux of the issue.

Instead of directly addressing the inaccuracies, Walz shifted the conversation to the broader criticism he has received from supporters of former President Donald Trump.

"If it's not this, it's an attack on my children for showing love for me or it's an attack on my dog," he said, implying that the scrutiny he faces is part of a broader pattern of personal attacks.

The CNN interview also brought attention to other instances where Walz has been accused of misrepresenting the truth. Host Dana Bash questioned Walz about his previous statements concerning the use of in vitro fertilization (IVF) to have his children.

In reality, Walz and his wife, Gwen, used a different fertility treatment, a discrepancy that has raised questions about his credibility.
