WASHINGTON, DC: The popular camouflage cap that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz wore soon after accepting the VP nomination has helped Kamala Harris' campaign earn almost $1 million.

The Harris campaign store saw Walz sporting a camouflage cap with orange embroidery spelling out "Harris/Walz" on Tuesday, August 6. Within 30 minutes, the store sold out of its first 3,000 caps and raised about $1 million for the campaign, reported the Washington Post.

Tim Walz has made numerous public appearances over the years sporting a camo cap

The camo cap is a perfect fit for the campaign store because Tim Walz, who has long boasted about his hunting prowess, has worn one on multiple occasions in public.

The campaign's plan, which has aimed to emphasize Walz's Midwestern demeanor in an effort to garner support in crucial swing states and win over rural voters, is also hinted by the cap.

Tim Walz's camo cap gets criticized by National Rifle Association

However, the National Rifle Association (NRA) and other opponents have mocked Tim Walz's headgear.

The NRA Institute for Legislative Action's executive director told the outlet that "a camo hat can’t camouflage the fact that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are gun-grabbing radicals who support confiscating firearms from law-abiding hunters and gun owners."

Tim Walz has long advocated for stricter gun laws

Tim Walz has consistently supported tougher gun legislation despite having a hunting background. As governor, he signed a bill containing a red flag statute and universal background checks.

Additionally, Vice President Kamala Harris has long supported stricter gun controls. During a speech in the Rose Garden last year, she advocated for "passing reasonable gun safety laws."

"President Biden and I believe in the Second Amendment, but we also know commonsense solutions are at hand," Harris said at the time.

But Emily L Newman, a professor of liberal studies and art history at Texas A&M University at Commerce, told the Washington Post that the viral cap complements the Walz character that the campaign is attempting to draw attention to and that it gives his case for gun control more weight.

"I thought it was a great campaign move to cash in on what Walz brings to the campaign, which is this Midwestern sensibility," Newman said. "He’s talked about being a hunter, but then he’s such a staunch advocate for gun control that it’s a great thing to play up for the Democrats."

Internet says Tim Walz 'likes to cloak himself in American symbolism' while destroying US

Netizens ridiculed the Democratic nominee for vice president after the Harris-Walz campaign made $1 million from the governor of Minnesota's camouflage cap.

One X user tweeted, "He likes to cloak himself in American symbolism while doing everything he can to destroy our national identity/values. He's an ungrateful opportunist."

Another added, "Doesn't matter how much money the left raises, they are not going to win, only reason why Kamalas rallies are big is because she has singers show up to do a concert, so people get a free concert, of they are going to be big. We saw that when there were no celebrities, there were maybe 100 people. Democrats and Hollywood work side by side for the illusion."

"Walz is a far leftist masquerading as a blue collar midwesterner. Everything about the guy is fake," wrote one while someone else remarked, "What a joke and a rip off of trump."
