ATLANTA, GEORGIA: A co-defendant of former President Donald Trump's Georgia election interference case threatened Fulton County DA Fani Willis to recuse herself from the case or to face jail time if she refuses to do so, Newsweek reported.

Harrison Floyd, one of the 18 co-defendants of Trump, came up with his warning through an X post on Thursday, April 4.

"I don't want to put a black woman in Jail. But if @FaniforDA does not recuse herself from this case by noon on Monday, I may have no other choice than to pursue all lawful remedies," he wrote, adding, "Make Fulton Great Again."

He also shared an article allegedly from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which claimed Willis' office shared with them the DA's phone call recording with his attorney, Carlos JR Salvado, in another unrelated criminal case in Maryland.

Harrison Floyd suggests Fani Willis likely violated Maryland Wiretap Act

Floyd shared another screenshot about the Maryland Wiretap Act, implying that the Fulton County DA may have violated it by sharing the phone call recording with his lawyer with the outlet.

According to the Act, recording a telephone or private in-person communication, unless one is a party to the communication and with the other party's consent, is a felony. Though most states only require one-party consent, 11 states, including Maryland, require the permission of both persons in the conversation.

In Maryland, violation of the rule is punishable with five years imprisonment and up to a $10,000 penalty or both.

Christopher Kachouroff, an attorney of Floyd, made a similar accusation against Willis in an interview with Phil Holloway on April 2. "She [Willis] did reach out to us, one of my colleagues in Maryland, and was rude abrupt with him on the phone; and he was dealing with the Maryland case, and I was dealing with the Georgia case, and she ended up recording him," the lawyer claimed.

Suggesting Willis illegally recorded the call, Kachouroff added, "It's a felony in Maryland."

In another X post on April 3, the Trump co-defendant upheld his attorney's claims, writing, "Fani Willis ILLEGALLY recorded a [phone emoji] call with my lawyer. Its a felony! She is a DEI [diversity, equality and inclusion] thug with a law license. Will anyone in GA stand up to her?"

Floyd, the leader of Black Voices for Trump, is the only co-defendant in the Georgia case to face jail term between August 24 and 30 before reaching a $100,000 bond.

Meanwhile, Willis was allowed to continue in the case despite her admittance of a romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who investigated the election subversion case, after the latter resigned in March.

Harrison Floyd's threat divides Internet

While a group of netizens spoke against Floyd's intimidation, another side opined Willis should face jail time.

One user wrote, "Told by a loser who is a criminal waiting for his jail time. Don’t lie. No one told her to do that But a criminal. So…no not true."

Whereas another person wrote, "Why is he even giving her a choice. If a crime has been committed, she should meet justice. Don’t give her the option to slump off with a slap on the wrist."

"That is typical MAGA intimidation of judges , prosecutors and judges. You don’t get to decide," a third user remarked. While a fourth response read, "She should be facing jail time no matter what she does."

Someone else mocked the threat, saying, "Oh my gods ! Sure, she is trembling in fear. By the way, who is Harrison Floyd and why does he think he has this kind of power?" On the other hand, an opposing remark read, "Sadly, Democrats do not get prosecuted in our banana republic judicial system. It doesn't matter if they are caught red-handed."

"Fani was given this ultimatum by whom? A powerless, fanatical trumpie? Be still my beating heart," an individual said, whereas another argued, "She should be removed from the case by the judge and then charged. She shouldn't be given a choice."
