Tom Cruise in a 'pretty embarrassing' situation after Heather Locklear recounts 40-year-old date fiasco

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise is apparently fuming ever since Heather Locklear declared that the ‘Mission: Impossible’ star “didn’t quite cut it” during their first - and only date - four decades ago. 

During a recent appearance at the 90s Con Florida on September 14, the 63-year-old ‘Melrose Place’ alum discussed the date with the ‘Top Gun’ actor over 40 years ago. 

Though the actress thought Cruise was “really cute,” the 62-year-old actor failed to make a lasting impression as a potential love interest on the diva. 

Now, a source close to Cruise claims that the actor feels it’s “pretty embarrassing” to be labeled as a dud of a lover by the actress.

A source close to the daredevil actor recently shared with an outlet, as reported by RadarOnline, that Cruise is already in hot waters following his successive failed romances. Adding to that, Locklear’s lackluster description of his romantic prowess felt “pretty embarrassing” to the actor. 

"Tom hasn't had much luck with women, so to say he was a lame date is pretty embarrassing come from a bonafide sex symbol,” shared the source to the outlet. 

In the last year, Cruise was rumored to be in two back-to-back failed relationships - first, with his ‘Mission: Impossible’ co-star Hayley Atwell, 42, and then with Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 37. 

However, after both relationships bombed, Cruise, often considered the least eligible bachelor in Hollywood by many fans, is facing a bleak future in dating. 

Thus, the lukewarm praise from the ‘Spin City’ actress did not help Cruise’s suit. 

"It doesn't help Heather saying unflattering things about him decades after their one date,” said the source. 

They continued while defending the ‘Knight and Day’ actor, "Yes, they were both young at the time, but he must have learned a few things since then."

During the interview, Locklear opened up about how she met Cruise for the first time and detailed the date she went on with the megastar 40 years ago. 

Sharing that she met Cruise during an audition of a film, Locklear said, "We both did an audition for the film together — the two of us —and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm terrible,’" before adding, "'He's even worse!’"

The ‘Dynasty’ actress, who was a "rock and roll girl" in her imagination, admitted that at that time she thought Cruise was being a little too reserved.

Locklear continued, "So at that time he was just like this little baby boy that I feel like I was a little bit older, and he ended up coming over to my house with Sean Penn," before adding, "And they were just nice, but he was very, ‘yes ma'am’ to me, and I was like, ‘okay, sir.’"

"We went out dancing to Club Lingerie at that time and, and I've said this before, I mean, he was really cute," shared the actress. 

However, though she found him to be “cute,” Locklear admitted, "He didn't quite cut it."

Tom Cruise’s close ones bothered by his alleged ‘body odor’

It is not only Locklear’s words that could impede the 'MI' star's dating plans as some sources also alleged that Cruise’s body odor can also be a turn-off. 

However, the ‘Jack Reacher’ star seems unbothered as the insider claimed, "Tom seems to be totally in denial. He's always been a pretty sweaty guy, but lately it seems to have gotten even worse – and he's doing nothing to address it!”

"He'll be out and be totally drenched and not seem to even notice, but of course the people around him are quite taken aback,” shared the source. 

They further spilled that Cruise’s romances with Atwell and Khayrova soured partly due to this reason as they would ask him to take potential steps to remove the pesky odor. 

"To be fair, his sweat baths happen more in hot and humid places, but at this point in his life he should know it's going to happen and just come prepared,” shared the source.

They added, "He could bring a change of clothes and a towel and maybe some spray deodorant too – because he can get mighty pungent when he goes hours on end in a soaked shirt.”

"He's Tom Cruise, so no one is going to tell him to his face, but people do comment about it and question why he doesn't invest in some Botox under the armpits. Word is, it can be very effective in reducing underarm sweating. But he seems perfectly fine with dripping sweat. It's like he's oblivious,” concluded the insider.
