SAINT-DENIS, FRANCE: Tom Cruise never leaves a chance to mark his presence in whatever he does.

Continuing the same tradition, he left his fans spellbound with his performance at the star-studded Paris Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, August 11.

Tom Cruise flew with the Olympic flag in Los Angeles sky

The ‘Top Gun’ star has done multiple heart-pounding stunts in his movies, and the August 11 act was similar. The performance showed him flying down from the top of the stadium, Stade de France, while Simone Biles made a guest appearance to pass the Olympic flag to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass from Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris.

The flag was then subsequently handed over to Cruise, who was seen flying high in the Los Angeles sky in pre-recorded footage.

However, there was one thing during the ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor’s act that disturbed some of his fans.

Though Cruise mesmerized most of the audience with his stunt, some noticed a thing attached to the lower side of his right leg. A few also talked about the 62-year-old film producer pulling on something during the act.

A Reddit user shared, “In spite of all the breathless kudos for Cruise’s stunt, something looked to go haywire with the big zipline entrance—there was a big bag on his leg that looked like it was supposed to deploy some spiffy effect, but it didn’t. Does anyone have the scoop?”

The second Reddit user wrote, “Pretty sure that was just a leg rope rappel bag (not a zipline).”

The third user commented, “It was supposed to be there. The bag kept the reminding rope on the line and Cruise continually adjusting his arm was to control the speed of descent.”

“I also wondered what it was - had a thought it was the US flag that was supposed to fly out behind him on the way down,” the fourth user said.

A person remarked, “I thought it was a smoke pack or something that malfunctioned.”

“I thought it was meant to deploy a USA flag since he appeared to tug on it three times fore giving up as if a stars and stripes was meant to unfurl and billow behind him as he landed,” another person added.

“Last night, during the closing Olympics ceremony, Tom Cruise rappelled down from the roof. He was clearly pulling a cord attached to a pouch on his leg. Does anyone know what was supposed to happen when he did that?” one X user asked.
