Heather Locklear reveals surprising detail of her only date with 'very nice' Tom Cruise

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Heather Locklear opened up about a date she went on almost 40 years ago with Tom Cruise during the 90s Con Florida event on Saturday, September 14.

The 62-year-old 'Melrose Place' alum opened up about how she first met the 62-year-old star of 'Top Gun,' as well as the date they went on when they were starting their acting careers.

During a panel at 90s Con Florida on Saturday, September 14, Heather Locklear revealed that she met Tom Cruise at an audition in the 1980s, per People.

"We both did an audition for the film together — the two of us —and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm terrible,’" she said, before adding, "'He's even worse!’"

Locklear, who was a "rock and roll girl" in her imagination, thought that Cruise was being a little too reserved at the time.

"So at that time he was just like this little baby boy that I feel like I was a little bit older, and he ended up coming over to my house with Sean Penn," she said, before adding, "And they were just nice, but he was very, ‘yes ma'am’ to me, and I was like, ‘okay, sir.’"

Locklear explained that the two eventually went on a date to Club Lingerie, where Cruise showed off some of the dance steps that the public would later come to associate with him.

"We went out dancing to Club Lingerie at that time and, and I've said this before, I mean, he was really cute," the 'Melrose Place' alum said.

Locklear went on to talk about Cruise's dancing techniques, mentioning that she was among the first to witness the iconic moment from 'Risky Business' where he skids to his knees.

Although they were merely coworkers, she was impressed by Cruise's kindness and grace.

"He actually did that before [the movie], and I was dancing along like, ‘Do you stop dancing if they're down there?’ I was like ‘Yay!’ But he was very nice to me," she recalled.

She remarked, "Neither of us got that part by the way," of the audition where they first met.

Since then, Locklear has evolved greatly in both her career and personal life. She was cast in 'Melrose Place' in 1992, and the show went on to have a beloved seven-season run.

The 'rock and roll girl' proceeded to have brief romantic relationships with two rock celebrities. In 1986, she wed the drummer and founder of Motley Crue, Tommy Lee. Following their divorce in 1993, she married Richie Sambora, the lead guitarist for Bon Jovi, and the two of them remained together until 2007, per Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Locklear was the beginning of Cruise's high-profile flings. Cruise dated Cher once, in the middle of the 1980s, shortly before he and his first wife, Mimi Rogers, joined The Church of Scientology.

He started seeing Nicole Kidman in 1990, who would later become his second wife, and he married Katie Holmes in 2005.

The 'Top Gun' actor dated celebrities including Sofia Vergara, Penelope Cruise, and Nazanin Boniadi in between his second and third marriages, per The List.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 'Top Gun' actor previously stated, "Relationships are hard. You have to know when you're going to be in a different place from someone else, you have to have the strength to separate."
