Tom Cruise recalls Princess Diana bringing young Prince William to first ‘Mission: Impossible’ set
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise recently recalled the time when Princess Diana and a young Prince William visited the set of the first ‘Mission: Impossible’ film years ago.
The A-lister recently appeared on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ where he talked about the late Princess and the future King.
Tom Cruise remembers Princess Diana as ‘absolutely lovely’
On Tuesday, September 29, when Hudson asked Cruise if the reports were true that Princess Diana had visited one of his film sets with her son, he replied, “Yes… I guess he spoke of it so it’s fine, I’m always very private about people…”
“It was beautiful … it was Mission Impossible, the first Mission Impossible. Man, was she lovely, and he was just absolutely lovely,” he stated.
The ‘Top Gun’ star continued that the Princess of Wales, who died in August 1997 at the age of 36, was “kind to everyone, and just a kid. Mannerly and fun … Fun, same person, same guy.”
Tom Cruise calls Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘charismatic couple’
During the sit-down, Cruise also shed light on Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton’s appearance at the world premiere of his new film, ‘Digger,’ in London on September 22.
“They were laughing … very gracious, loved the film, it was beautiful for them to be there, they’re such an elegant, charismatic couple,” he added, before mentioning, “As I said, William chose well, she’s beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.”
Calling the royal pair, “so down to earth,” Cruise stated, “What they do for their country and the world is… lovely.”
Tom Cruise says he has a ‘lot in common’ with Prince William
Four years ago, the 64-year-old star had even invited Kate and William to the private screening of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’.
At the time, Cruise had told My London about the father-of-three, “We have a lot in common. We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying.”
Tom Cruise also called Princess Diana ‘brilliant and intelligent woman’
The Academy Honorary Award winning actor also reportedly shared a friendly connection with the late Princess Diana, with whom he and his then-wife Nicole Kidman interacted at the premiere of their romantic drama, ‘Far and Away,’ in 1992.
He and Kidman were also in attendance at Diana's funeral after her death.
Recently, during an interview with French TV journalist Laurent Delahousse, Cruise called Diana a “brilliant and intelligent woman.”
“She was like William and Kate: approachable, down-to-earth,” he added.
