WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: An inhumane and desperate need for money ended with the death of a 33-year-old Domino's pizza delivery driver who was shot dead in West Palm Beach on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, as per WPTV.

Elijsha Wingfield, 25, Avianna Williams, 25, and Marcus Williams, 29, were arrested and booked into the main Palm Beach County jail just after 3 am on Wednesday, January 10, on charges of first-degree murder with a firearm in the fatal shooting of Tommie Anderson III, of Riviera Beach.

Anderson was shot dead seconds after delivering a pizza

Anderson was shot shortly before 1 pm, according to West Palm Beach police, barely seconds after he delivered a pizza to a residence in the 1000 block of Douglass Avenue. Anderson was bleeding from the neck and arm when police arrived on the scene.

After being brought to St Mary's Medical Centre, he was declared dead.

The white Honda four-door sedan, driven by a person with a "round hockey-styled mask," was seen on surveillance footage approaching Anderson's automobile, which had a Domino's sign fixed to the roof.

The Florida Highway Patrol pulled over the car at Belvedere Road and Military Trail in West Palm Beach, just before 5 pm, four hours later.

Police said all three suspects were inside the car, along with two rifles in the rear seat and a black 9mm pistol under the front passenger seat.

When police questioned Wingfield, they said he admitted to shooting Anderson in an attempted robbery.

Wingfield told the police, "He was in need of money and was expecting a paycheck which he didn't receive," his arrest report stated, as per Law and Crime.

Wingfield said he and Williams were passengers in the Honda, while Kerr Williams was driving the vehicle. As the car approached the Domino's delivery vehicle, Wingfield told police he saw Anderson and said, "Let's see what he's got!"

According to the arrest report, Williams and Wingfield exited the Honda with an AR-15 rifle and a 9mm handgun, respectively. Wingfield claimed that as he got closer to Anderson, he raised his hands and grabbed for his pocket.

Wingfield fired three shots, hitting the delivery driver, claiming he was terrified that Anderson would shoot him, according to the police report.

Then Wingfield and Williams returned to the Honda and raced away.

"At this point in the interview, Elijsha Wingfield put his head down and stated, ''I [EXPLETIVE] my life up!'" according to the police report.

The three suspects are being held at the main Palm Beach County jail without bond.

Anderson's family mourn the loss

At the suspects' first appearance in court on Wednesday, January 10 morning, Anderson's father told WPTV the victim had two children, ages 6 and 13, and worked two jobs to support them. The day he got killed was Anderson's second day on the job at Domino's.

"I'm just hurt. I can't sleep at night. I'm really hurt about this," Anderson's father, Tommie Anderson Jr, said.

"It was shocking, nobody could believe it. Take a person's life ... they don't have any money or nothing," he added.

He said, "What Domino's pizza [delivery person] has money? He was just trying to make ends meet for my two grandkids. That's all he was trying to do."
