WASHINGTON, DC: MSNBC anchor Joe Scarborough has often been critical of former President Donald Trump and a possible second Trump term. As the 2024 Presidential elections edge closer, Trump continues to lead the polls in comparison with Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Chris Christie, and of course, President Joe Biden.

Scarborough currently appears to be on a winter break from ‘Morning Joe’ on MSNBC, along with his wife and co-anchor Mika Brzezinski. However, this has not stopped him from signaling warnings about a second Trump term.

On the day after Christmas, Scarborough took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share an article from The New York Times about the same, as the MSNBC anchor highlighted “Trump’s promises for 2nd term.”

On X, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, whilst away from the ‘Morning Joe’ desk, shared an article from The New York Times that was titled, “How Trump Plans to Wield Power in 2025: What We Know.”

This particular article focused on how former President Donald Trump and “his allies” are already preparing for the possibility of a second term of Trump's presidency in 2024, suggesting that they are forging plans for an even “more extreme agenda” than his previous term.

In response to this article, Scarborough wrote on the social media platform, “Terminate the Constitution, throw political opponents in jail, execute generals. Trump’s promises for 2nd term.”

In addition to this, the MSNBC anchor also gave his followers a glimpse of Trump’s appearance on Univision from earlier in November and shared a statement by the former President.

On X, Scarborough quoted Trump as he wrote, “‘If I happen to be president and I see somebody who's doing well and beating me very badly, I say go down and indict them.’ ~Trump on indicting opponents if he wins.”

Internet reacts to Joe Scarborough's remarks on second Trump term

As Scarborough continued to share little glimpses of a possible second Trump term, the internet was quick to weigh in on the same.

One user wrote about Trump, “Omfg please help put this man behind bars?” and another questioned, “How is this not a red flag to everyone?!”

“Thanks, but we'll pass on those, Trump,” wrote one user, and another declared, “When a person shows you who they are at first, believe them. This country will end if he’s back in office.”

Trump continued to face backlash in response as one user opined, “Trump never keeps his promises.  If he gets re-elected it will be just like it was the first time around.  He'll sleep in until 11 am then go to the golf course,” and another wrote, “Can we just toss him out with the trash?”
