SUMTER COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA: Authorities are in pursuit of Troy Cornelius Wells after the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for his arrest on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Insights into Jennifer Cruz's shooting
Officials informed that around 6.00 am on Saturday, March 23, two gunshot victims were rushed to Prisma Tuomey Hospital. According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported a shooting incident in the 1700 block of North Main Street.
Jennifer, one of the victims, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Despite her tragic demise, her unborn child miraculously survived, was delivered, and is currently in critical condition at a Columbia hospital. The second victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, with their current status remaining unknown.
Suspect at large to be considered 'armed and dangerous'
Investigators revealed that the alleged shooter, Wells, was acquainted with the victims and had reportedly been waiting for them at a local motel. Upon their arrival at 5.42 am, Wells purportedly unleashed a barrage of gunfire at their vehicle, striking both victims.
Sheriff Anthony Dennis expressed concern, stating, “We have reason to believe the suspect, Troy Wells, knew that Ms. Cruz was pregnant. This attack was callous and cold-blooded,” reported WisTv. Reports indicate that Cruz was 35 weeks pregnant at the time of her tragic death.
Authorities have issued a public warning, urging citizens to exercise caution. “Wells should be considered armed and dangerous, and we are asking citizens not to approach him but call 911 if they see him,” said Sheriff Dennis.
Additionally, individuals with information regarding Wells’ whereabouts are encouraged to report anonymously for a reward through the P3Tips website or mobile app.
