According to ABC15, Durbin, who supported the 1864 abortion ban, was quoted saying, “What we would like to see take place in the state of Arizona is that we once again value human life, image bearers of God. We treat one another as equals and we actually afford all human beings equal protection.”

During this time, signatures were being collected for the Arizona for Abortion Access initiative, which has successfully obtained the required number of signatures for the November ballot.

The initiative aims to reinstate women's reproductive rights following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade.

On Monday, June 24, the Biden campaign posted an audio recording of Pastor Durbin, labeling him as a "leader of Republican opposition to the Arizona abortion measure", where he allegedly expressed that women who undergo abortions should be executed.

In the audio, Durbin said, “Abortion should be considered a crime. It should be considered murder. You’re unjustly taking the live of a human being. And so that’s murder. And what I’ve said is the historic position of Christian church, that if you take the life of a human being, unjustly, then what the state owes you – if it’s proven and it’s true – is capital punishment. You forfeit your right to live.”

Internet shreds Jeff Durbin as he says women who get abortions should be executed

Reacting to Jeff Durbin's stance about women who get abortions, one X user said, "They have a very odd and hypocritical definition of pro-life. Save the fetus, but kill the mother."

Another user said, "Fortunately, the “Christian church,” as he frames it, should never be allowed to rule our country."

Another user asserted, "An Extremist who doesn’t understand the first thing about reproductive rights. #VoteDemToRestoreRoe."

One user asked, "Why do they never say anything about the men who impregnate these women? The women didn’t get pregnant all by themselves. No punishment for the men. No vasectomies, no castration? No jail? WHY???"

Another X user quipped, "I bet his parents regret not being pro choice every hour."

Finally, one user tweeted, "Take them seriously. They are gonna kill people if you give them that power!"
