LEBANON, TENNESSEE: Cracker Barrel thought it could trade its old-timey vibe for a sleeker look, but the move sparked a major backlash instead.

The beloved chain, known for its biscuits, grits, and gift-shop tchotchkes, announced it is scrapping its controversial redesign after customers revolted, and President Donald Trump himself took aim at the “woke” makeover.

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel,” the company said in a statement. “We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘old timer’ will remain.”

That U-turn came after days of furious posts on social media, culminating in Trump chiming in with a not-so-subtle hint to drop the “modern” makeover and bring Uncle Herschel back where he belongs.

“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity,” he added, before closing with his signature rallying cry: time to “Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”

Trump turns Cracker Barrel into a winner again

Turns out Trump’s two cents were worth a lot more. Shares of the company, which had dropped by $100 million last week after the redesign debacle, suddenly soared more than 6% following the president’s endorsement of the rollback.

“Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was ‘DEAD.’ Good luck!” Trump boasted in another Truth Social post.

The chain had previously tried to abandon its nostalgic trimmings, the wagon wheels, country kitsch, and its folksy farmer mascot Uncle Herschel, in favor of stripped-down white paint and a “cleaner” logo. Fans didn’t appreciate it.

Trump’s comments came just a day after Cracker Barrel issued a rather weak apology. “We won’t always get everything right the first time, but we’ll keep testing, learning and listening to our guests and employees," the company said in a statement.

Uncle Herschel's viral song

That same day, a video went viral featuring an animated Uncle Herschel. With more than 600,000 views on X, the farmer belted out a parody tune skewering brands that had “gone woke” and lost big.

“Why, oh why, do brands insist on committing to suicide? Cracker Barrel, you coulda left me on the logo and just let it ride,” he crooned. “Hey Wall Street! God, politics and s*x ain’t your business, so do me a favor and stay the heck out of mine.”

“Calvin Klein said being morbidly obese was cool,” the farmer continued. “Greedy banks lecturing me about DEI. Are they for real? Some whackjobs named Ben and Jerry want me to boycott Israel.”

The Uncle Herschel parody didn’t stop there. It mocked Bud Light’s trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney: “It’s enough to make you reach for a beer, but Bud’s woke too. Next they’ll call it the Queen of Beers, guess this Bud ain’t for you.”

It also took shots at Nike’s Colin Kaepernick campaign, Target’s Pride clothing line for kids, and American Eagle’s racy denim shoot with Sydney Sweeney, which played on the word “genes.”

Trump declares victory over Cracker Barrel logo

By the night of August 26, Trump congratulated Cracker Barrel for ditching the redesign.

“Congratulations ‘Cracker Barrel’ on changing your logo back to what it was. All of your fans very much appreciate it,” he posted.

Trump also reshared a parody of the old Cracker Barrel logo, this time featuring his own likeness seated beside an oil barrel stamped with his “America First” slogan, Politico reported.
