Donald Trump blames ‘Russia witch hunt’ for his son and Vanessa Trump's divorce
Donald Trump Jr and Vanessa Trump finalized their divorce in 2018, but seven years later, the president is still convinced that external forces played a role in their separation.
Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office on Monday, March 31, Trump was quick to blame the relentless scrutiny surrounding his son's infamous 2016 meeting with Russian individuals for the marital fallout.
“I happen to think the relationship with my son was hurt very badly by the witch hunt [about] Russia, Russia, Russia and all the c**p they put Don through,” Trump said, per Daily Mail.
“Vanessa and Don had a very good relationship. They have five incredible children. All great athletes, all good students. They broke up quite a while ago, which, to me, was very sad because I think they’re both great," said the POTUS.
Vanessa, a former model and mother of five, filed for an uncontested divorce from Trump Jr on March 15, 2018, in New York.
Since their split, she had kept a low profile in the dating world, until now.
Donald Trump in favor of Vanessa Trump and Tiger Woods’ relationship
While Donald Trump lamented his son’s failed marriage, he had nothing but warm words for Vanessa Trump's new romance with Tiger Woods, whom he considers a close friend.
The golf legend, 49, and Vanessa, 47, have been dating since last Thanksgiving, according to sources, and recently made their relationship public with a series of affectionate social media posts.
“I love Tiger and I love Vanessa. They had a great relationship,” Trump said.
“Tiger actually called me a few months ago. I have a special, very good relationship with Tiger. I played golf with him a couple of times over the past month, and he’s a fantastic guy and a fantastic athlete," he continued.
"He told me about it, and I said, ‘Tiger, that’s good.’ I’m very happy for both [of them]. Just let both of them be happy," added Trump.
Tiger Woods and Vanessa Trump go public with their romance
Tiger Woods shared intimate photos with Vanessa Trump on March 23, Sunday, declaring, “Love is in the air and life is better with you by my side! We look forward to our journey through life together.”
The post received an outpouring of support, including from Vanessa’s daughter Kai and former sister-in-law Ivanka Trump.

However, sources revealed that Woods initially wanted to keep their relationship private.
“He knew it would be a huge story when it came out,” an insider shared.
“And he didn’t exactly love it. But obviously, Tiger dating a Trump is always going to make headlines, which is exactly what he wanted to avoid," they further spilled.

Their relationship has become a major talking point among the elite circles in Palm Beach, Florida, where both reside just 20 minutes apart.
“Benjamin is like a small community,” a source noted, adding, “And there’s nothing that rich people like to do more than gossip about each other. Frankly, I’m surprised that it was secret for so long.”
Tiger Woods’ ex-wife Elin Nordegren reacts to his relationship with Vanessa Trump
Before making their relationship public, Tiger Woods personally reached out to his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, to inform her of his new romance with Vanessa Trump.
“He called the 45-year-old shortly after they started dating,” a source disclosed. “The short and awkward call only lasted a few minutes," they said.
“Elin’s response at first was like, ‘Seriously? A Trump? For real?’” the insider added.
“She was more amused than anything. But she really quickly just accepted it. They’re not the type to give each other their ‘blessing’ per se, but they keep each other in the loop with anyone who is going to spend any amount of time around the kids," the tipster revealed.
Vanessa’s eldest daughter Kai Trump, 17, and Woods’ children Charlie, 16, and Sam, 17, all attend The Benjamin School, a prestigious institution with an annual tuition of $38,595.

Interestingly, Woods and Vanessa were absent from the Junior Invitational, a South Carolina golf tournament in which both Kai and Charlie competed earlier this month. Trump Jr and Elin Nordegren were also missing from the event.
The romance between Vanessa and Woods comes at a pivotal time for the golfer, who is navigating the uncertainties of his career following a series of injuries.
Most recently, Woods underwent surgery on March 11 to repair a ruptured Achilles, ruling him out of The Masters in April.
Despite Woods’ tumultuous personal history, including his highly publicized 2009 scandal (involving multiple affairs), sources say Vanessa is unbothered by his past.
“She just doesn’t care about all that,” an insider noted. “She’s focused on their relationship and their future," they added.
As for Trump Jr, sources say he is “cool” with his ex-wife’s new relationship and remains focused on his business ventures and role as a key adviser to his father.
