WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump sharply criticized Fox News and anchor Peter Doocy on October 5 after Doocy’s interview with Sen Mark Kelly about healthcare and the government shutdown aired on 'The Sunday Briefing.'

“Why is FoxNews and Peter Doocy putting on Democrat Senator Mark Kelly to talk about, totally unabated or challenged, Healthcare?” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump accuses Fox News of unfair coverage and fake polling

Trump used the moment to launch a broader critique of the network, accusing Fox News of unfair coverage toward Republicans and misleading polling.

“The FAKE SPIN is so bad for Republicans that it is hard to believe that we WIN. It will be very unfair, in the future, when they don’t have ‘TRUMP’ to fight for them. Therefore, we should fix it, NOW!” Trump wrote.

“I’m watching this Interview. It just doesn’t end. Fox should either get on board, or get off board, NOW, but at this point, it just doesn’t make any difference to me. They suck up the Ratings because of us, and then spin them in the Democrats’ direction,” he continued.

Trump went on to accuse the network of suppressing favorable polls. “They refuse to put up Polls that correctly show me at 65% in Popularity, a Republican RECORD, but if I have a fake bad ‘Poll,’ many of which are done by Fox (One of the worst ‘Pollsters’ out there is the FoxNews Poll), they put them up immediately, and with gusto,” Trump wrote. “Republicans are so tired of this fight with Fox always trying to be so ‘politically correct!’”

Mark Kelly calls for bipartisan action to cut healthcare costs

During 'The Sunday Briefing' interview that triggered Trump’s comments, Sen Mark Kelly emphasized the need for bipartisan talks to lower healthcare costs and address the ongoing government shutdown.

Kelly said millions of Americans were “on the verge” of losing their healthcare coverage if key tax credits were allowed to lapse.

He called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring lawmakers back to Washington to negotiate a bipartisan deal.

“Speaker Johnson should bring back the House this week for a bipartisan negotiation about how to bring down these high costs for the American people,” Kelly said.

Peter Doocy challenges Mark Kelly on shutdown, migrant healthcare policy

Fox News anchor Peter Doocy pressed Sen Mark Kelly on whether he would support reopening the government by voting with Republicans.

“As I understand it, the House has already passed the spending bill,” Doocy said. “That’s why the White House is appealing to some moderate Democrats to vote with Republicans to reopen the government. You’re a moderate Democrat. Are you going to vote with Republicans to reopen the government?”

“Well, if we could reopen the government and bring down these costs, absolutely,” Kelly replied. “Nobody wants to see the government shut down. I mean, we know what happens when people don’t get their paychecks. We get that.”

Doocy later pressed Kelly to clarify the Democratic stance on healthcare access for undocumented immigrants, a central flashpoint in the budget debate.

“Well, the federal law is that undocumented individuals do not have access to Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, even the Affordable Care Act. That’s the law. So this is a red herring from my Republican colleagues,” Kelly said.
