Trump called Rupert Murdoch 'piece of s**t' after New York Post mocked his 2024 campaign announcement

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Donald Trump allegedly called media mogul Rupert Murdoch a "piece of s***" after his organization, the New York Post, mocked the launch of Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, a new book has revealed.
Axios reporter Alex Isenstadt's new book titled 'Revenge, The Inside Story of Trump’s Return to Power' revealed that the president was enraged by the New York Post's November 16, 2022, headline that read "Florida Man Makes Announcement," Daily Beast reported.
Ouch…that’s gonna sting. Where does the Murdoch-owned New York Post put the Donald Trump ‘I’m running’ announcement? #FloridaMan

New book reveals Donald Trump was furious with Rupert Murdoch over headline
An early copy of the book obtained by the Status newsletter ahead of its release on Tuesday, March 11, revealed that Donald Trump also complained that Rupert Murdoch was "so cold," as per the outlet.
Moreover, the book also revealed that Trump expressed his anger over the headline to conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson and called Murdoch’s estranged son, James Murdoch, a "crazy f**king liberal."

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement to Daily Beast, "Many of these so-called insider books are a desperate attempt to make money off of President Trump’s name because journalism is a dying industry with reporters peddling lies and selling their souls in order to make a quick buck."
The statement continued, "These works of fiction either belong in the bargain bin of the fantasy section in a discount bookstore or should be repurposed as tissue paper."
Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch's relationship over the years
Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump’s relationship has had many ups and downs over the last few years, according to Daily Beast.
During Trump's first term, Murdoch’s Fox News aired supportive coverage of the president, and host Sean Hannity acted as a consultant for Trump on policy, per the outlet.
However, Murdoch was still reported to have described Trump as a "f**king idiot" over his immigration policies, according to Michael Wolff’s book, The Guardian reported.
Moreover, their relationship was further weakened after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots when Murdoch said he wanted to make Trump a "non-person," as per emails released during a defamation lawsuit against Fox by voting tech group Dominion.

Furthermore, Murdoch-owned outlets—The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post— have published articles opposing Trump’s nomination of Robert F Kennedy Jr for health secretary.
The Wall Street Journal also repeatedly attacked Trump's policies on inflation and tariffs.
However, the two recently appeared to have mended their relationship. The president praised the media mogul as an "amazing guy" during a meeting in the Oval Office in February 2025, per the outlet.

Interestingly, Murdoch’s outlet made Trump famous in the 1980s via coverage of his business deals and lifestyle. His outlet regularly mentioned Trump's colorful personal life on the diary pages.
