GASPARILLA ISLAND, FLORIDA: Tucker Carlson made a startling claim during a recent appearance on the 'Redacted' podcast, alleging that “dark forces” are controlling Joe Biden's administration.

The controversial former Fox News host's remarks were prompted by Washington's recent decision to supply Ukraine with anti-personnel landmines to use in its ongoing conflict with Russia.

Criticizing President Joe Biden's administration's actions, Tucker Carlson said, “Now I would say Satan because I really think that you've got dark forces in charge."

He accused the US government of knowingly supporting actions that harm civilians, describing the use of such landmines as “evil.”

“The only effect of that move is to kill innocents, period,” Carlson stated.

“And they know that. So they’re doing it anyway because killing is the point,” he added.

Landmines and controversy

The US government recently approved the provision of non-persistent anti-personnel mines to Ukraine.

These mines are designed to deactivate after a preset period and are less likely to cause long-term harm compared to older mines still endangering civilians in post-conflict regions worldwide.

The move marks a shift in US policy, as Biden had previously resisted sending anti-personnel mines to Ukraine.

Officials argue that the mines are intended to repel Russian invaders and slow their advances within Ukraine’s borders and that strict guidelines prohibit their use near civilian areas.

However, Carlson dismissed these assurances, framing the decision as part of a broader moral failing, according to Daily Mail.

Carlson also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom he labeled a “dictator.”

He criticized Zelenskyy for remaining in office beyond his term, which ended in May 2022.

“[Zelenskyy] literally passed his term and kept serving,” said Carlson.

His remarks omitted the context of Ukraine’s martial law, declared following Russia’s invasion, which postponed elections as the country focused on its defense.

Biden administration’s support for Ukraine intensifies

The decision to send landmines followed another significant development on November 19, when President Joe Biden approved Ukraine’s use of American-made ATACMS missiles with a range of 190 miles.

Ukrainian forces reportedly used the weapons to strike Tula, a Russian city known for its ammunition production.

The US has maintained that its military support for Ukraine is aimed at bolstering the country’s ability to defend itself against Russian aggression.

However, the approval of landmines has reignited debate over the ethical implications of the weapons.
