NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Jimmy Kimmel slammed Donald Trump Jr for a controversial social media post mocking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions as the US undergoes a leadership transition, with President-elect Donald Trump preparing to take office in January 2025.

Donald Trump Jr's controversial post sparks backlash

Donald Trump Jr drew sharp criticism after resharing an image of Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Instagram posted by 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

“POV: You’re 38 Days from losing your allowance,” read the video's caption, implying that the incoming Trump administration might cut off aid to Ukraine.

This comes as Ukraine continues to defend itself against a prolonged Russian invasion that began in early 2022.

In response, Kimmel said, “Bold words from a man who is definitely still on his father’s phone plan,” the late-night host quipped, according to Huff Post.

Mocking Trump Jr’s lack of professional achievements, the television host said, “If I was Donald Trump Jr, I wouldn’t ever use the word ‘allowance’ in any situation. What is his job? Is being horrible an occupation now?”

In his monologue on Monday, November 11, on his show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Kimmel also took a moment to commend Zelenskyy’s resilience and leadership during “the darkest times imaginable".

He expressed disbelief that someone as influential as Trump Jr would mock a leader who is "literally leading his country through a war.”

Jimmy Kimmel targets Donald Trump’s recent comments on NFL rules

Jimmy Kimmel also criticized President-elect Donald Trump, who, just days after his electoral win, took to Truth Social on Sunday, November 10, to complain about the NFL’s new kickoff rule.

“The NFL should get rid of the ridiculous new Kickoff Rule!” wrote Trump.

Joking about Trump's priorities, Kimmel said, “I think this is a great waste of his time. I would much rather have him working on stuff like that… Kickoffs, End Zone dances, those shorts cheerleaders wear now for no reason."

"That’s what I want to see him up to,” he added.

The late-night comedian then explained the purpose behind the rule change, emphasizing that it was to prevent brain injuries among players, adding sarcastically, “But Trump knows that without brain damage, he wouldn’t be president of the United States right now,” reported TV Insider.

Jimmy Kimmel reflects on 2024 presidential election results

In a heartfelt monologue on his show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' after the election results were announced, Jimmy Kimmel expressed his deep disappointment with the election outcome.

Fighting back tears, Kimmel described November 5 as “the worst Taco Tuesday” of his life.

“We had the choice between a prosecutor and a criminal, and we chose the criminal to be President of the United States,” the host lamented.

“More than half of this country voted for the criminal who’s planning to pardon himself for his crimes. I guess this election wasn’t rigged,” he added.

Kimmel ended his segment by calling Trump’s victory a “terrible night for women and children,” as per Sky News.
