WATCH: Jimmy Kimmel mercilessly taunts Don Jr for leading Trump to make the worst decision of his life
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jimmy Kimmel returned from his extended summer break and picked up where he left off, poking fun at Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr.
During an episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' he said, “There are a lot of things Trump isn’t good at, one of the things he’s especially not good at is picking running mates,” adding, “He made a huge mistake with this JD Vance, who can’t stop stepping in it.”
Kimmel pointed out that Donald Trump Jr, the eldest son of the former president, reportedly urged his father to choose Vance, who is now considered one of the most disliked vice presidential picks in recent memory.
“Another good move, dumb**s,” Kimmel said sarcastically, per HuffPost. “If Trump loses this election, he’s gonna sue his son to take the ‘junior’ away.”
JD Vance has been in the headlines all summer
JD Vance has been in the spotlight this summer for his embarrassingly awful campaign appearances and resurfaced statements, including derogatory comments about "childless cat ladies" and "miserable" women without children, among other things.
“For a guy who wears more eyeliner than Liza Minnelli, you’d think he’d have a better understanding of women,” Kimmel said, adding that Vance’s shortcomings are even more glaring when compared to Vice President Kamala Harris' "home run" pick of Minnesota Gov Tim Walz as her running mate.
Jimmy Kimmel explains why Tim Walz is better than JD Vance
Jimmy Kimme showered praise on the Minnesota Governor, saying, "Tim Walz is the kind of guy who if you sat next to him on a plane he would ask you what brings you to Tampa because he genuinely wants to know what brings you to Tampa."
He then took a jab at the Ohio senator again, saying, "JD Vance would just sit there watch you sleep you know."
Donald Trump reportedly considering replacing JD Vance
Paul Begala, a longtime counselor to former President Bill Clinton, has said that Donald Trump may drop Senator JD Vance as his vice presidential nominee.
Since Vice President Kamala Harris emerged as the front-runner for the Democratic nomination and President Joe Biden resigned from the campaign, there have been various speculations that Trump is having second thoughts about choosing Vance as his running mate in 2024.
Concerns continue about whether Vance could negatively impact Republicans in November, despite Trump’s public endorsement. In a Fox News interview, Trump stated that the senator is "doing a fantastic job" and has been "very well received" by the public.
Begala suggested that Trump would choose to replace Vance with former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. "There's a nonzero chance the Republicans take their vice presidential candidate off the ticket," Begala said. "He's been a dud. He's the first vice presidential nominee of either party since 1980 to begin underwater in his approval ratings."
"He's not good on the stump," he continued, per Newsweek. "I don't like Trump [but] he's really charismatic ... JD, so far, is just dull. This is a woman [Haley] campaigning to get on the ticket, you watch, this year. You watch."
Begala continued by asking, "What a different race we would have" if Trump had chosen Haley instead of Vance, suggesting that Haley could serve as "a bridge" to potential swing voters both parties are trying to win over. "Trump is not good with long-term relationships," Begala concluded. "And he's not going to stick with JD."
