WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump appears to have his longtime nemesis, Adam Schiff, in his crosshairs.

The president is claiming the California Democrat could be headed for a jail cell over mortgage fraud.

“Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE!” Trump posted late Sunday night. “He falsified Loan Documents. He once said my son would go to prison on a SCAM that Schiff, along with other Crooked Dems, illegally ‘manufactured’ in order to stage an actual coup. My son did nothing wrong, knew nothing about the fictional story. It was an American Tragedy! Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime, not one made up by the corrupt accusers!”

Trump seems to be reopening old wounds from the Russia probe while slamming Schiff over fresh allegations that could land the Senator in serious legal trouble.

Adam Schiff's alleged mortgage hustle

According to Trump, Schiff may have fudged some serious paperwork to score better mortgage deals. Specifically, Schiff and his wife Eve are accused of misrepresenting their primary residence for years.

The home in question is a swanky property in Potomac, Maryland, while Schiff was allegedly maintaining a condo in Burbank, California, the district he actually represents.

Trump pounced on a memo from Fannie Mae (another name for the Federal National Mortgage Association) that reportedly concluded Schiff “engaged in a sustained pattern of possible mortgage fraud” by declaring his Maryland mansion as his main home instead of his California pad.

The internal memorandum used a slightly tamer tone, saying Schiff and Eve “engaged in a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation.”

The president doubled down on his crusade earlier Sunday. “Adam Schiff is a THIEF! He should be prosecuted, just like they tried to prosecute me, and everyone else — The only difference is, WE WERE TOTALLY INNOCENT, IT WAS ALL A GIANT HOAX!” he fumed.

He’s essentially demanding that Schiff face the same level of scrutiny that he and his allies did during the Russia investigation and impeachment saga, except this time it’s Schiff on the defensive.

Adam Schiff fires back, Laura Ingraham chimes in

The California senator has already swatted away the allegations, calling them politically motivated nonsense.

“Big surprise — members of Congress, almost all of them, own more than one home or rent more than one home because we’re required to be on both coasts. So he is using my ownership of two homes to make a false claim of mortgage fraud,” Schiff said last week.

But that hasn’t stopped the controversy from reaching a whole new level.

On Tuesday night’s episode of 'The Ingraham Angle', host Laura Ingraham said she had exclusively obtained a criminal referral for Schiff.

According to Ingraham, Housing Director Bill Pulte filed the referral with the DOJ, accusing Schiff of a 16-year mortgage con. Schiff allegedly falsified bank documents and property records from 2003 to 2019 to snag cushier rates and terms for his Potomac digs.

“The referral, submitted to the DOJ by Housing Director Bill Pulte, alleges that Schiff has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms—impacting payments from 2003 to 2019 for a Potomac, Maryland-based property. Schiff owns a home in California and another in Maryland,” Ingraham revealed.
