WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday, December 28, to discuss a way forward between Ukraine and Russia amidst the ongoing war between the two countries. The day after, on Monday, Zelenskyy praised the president for his support in brokering peace.
The same day, Russia announced that one of Putin's residences had been attacked and blamed Ukraine for the same.
This prompted President Trump to get on a call with Vladimir Putin concerning Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy denies involvement with attack on Russia
The Ukrainian president took to X to deny any involvement with the attempted attack on the Russian presidential palace on Monday. He accused Russia of “using dangerous statements” to undermine the diplomatic efforts of Ukraine and America to achieve peace.
He also claimed that the residence strike story was a “complete fabrication” intended to “justify” any future attacks against Ukraine, and was Russia’s “own refusal” to take the necessary steps to end the Ukraine-Russia war.
“Typical Russian lies,” he added.
Zelenskyy pointed out that Russia had attacked Kyiv in the past, including the Cabinet of Ministers building.
The Ukrainian president claimed that Ukraine would not do anything to undermine diplomacy, whereas Russia “always takes such steps.”
He added that this was the difference between the two countries, as he urged the world to speak up against Russia’s narrative.
Russia is at it again, using dangerous statements to undermine all achievements of our shared diplomatic efforts with President Trump's team. We keep working together to bring peace closer.

This alleged "residence strike" story is a complete fabrication intended to justify…
“We cannot allow Russia to undermine the work on achieving a lasting peace,” he said.
Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking one of Vladimir Putin’s residences
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that Ukraine tried to attack Vladimir Putin’s residence in Novgorod. He said that the attack included “91 long-range drones” that were apprehended by the Russian air defences.
He added that the reckless actions would not go “unanswered” as he termed the attack “state t*******m.”
He also stated that, despite the recent dialogue about having peace with Ukraine, in light of the attempted attack, Russia would be reviewing its stance.
