NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former president Donald Trump claimed he forecasted the indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams following federal charges.

Speaking at a press conference at the Trump Tower in New York on Thursday, September 26, the GOP presidential nominee weighed in on the Hizzoner's indictment, claiming his takes on the migrant crisis might have contributed to the latest developments.

On September 25, Adams became the first of the Big Apples' sitting mayors to be federally indicted, which, according to the 64-year-old, was politically motivated by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' administration for speaking about their migrant policies that impacted New York City's resources.

Donald Trump weighs in on what led to Eric Adams' indictment

"I watched about a year ago when he talked about how the illegal migrants are hurting our city, and the federal government should pay us, and we shouldn’t have to take them," Donald Trump said at the NY press conference, as per the New York Post.

"And I said, 'You know what? He'll be indicted within a year'," he continued, "And I was exactly right, because that's what we have."

The real estate mogul added that there were people who currently used the Department of Justice and FBI at levels never like before.

In response to the indictment, Adams, in a pre-recorded interview, claimed that he was aware of being targeted for standing for the people of New York and calling out the Biden administration's handling of the influx of immigrants that would cost NYC over $12 billion by 2026.

"Despite our pleas, the federal government did nothing as its broken immigration policies overloaded our shelter system," the Hizzoner claimed in the video statement.

In addition, he faces two other indictments in Georgia and Washington, DC. The classified document case in Florida was dismissed in July.

"I wish him well," Trump said about the New York City mayor, adding, "These are dirty players. These are bad people. They cheat, and they do anything necessary."
