Trump claims Minnesota fraud exceeds $19B, says his administration is 'very deep into investigation'

Trump said his administration had been 'very deep' into investigating the matter and insisted the government would uncover the truth

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump once again attacked the state of Minnesota and California, accusing them of billions of dollars of fraud and also threatened that his government is “going to find out” the truth.



On Tuesday, February 3, the US leader spoke with the press after signing legislation ending a short federal shutdown, where he claimed, “The other thing we can't lose sight of is you probably have, in Minnesota — and it's worse in some places, like California — $19B in fraud.”

Trump says his administration is 'deep into' fraud probe

He also asserted that his administration is “going to find out. We're very deep into that investigation. We're not going to forget that.”

Trump was repeating the same thing that he posted on his Truth Social on Saturday. He had shared that the “Theft and Fraud in Minnesota is far greater than the 19 Billion Dollars originally projected.”

The 79-year-old then slammed his predecessor Joe Biden, alleging his government did not do anything to stop the fraud despite knowing about it. He also went on to call Ilhan Omar a “scammer” and stated that she and “her absolutely terrible friends from Somalia should all be in jail right now or, far worse, send them back to Somalia.”

Trump did not mince words while blasting Minnesota governor Tim Walz as he added, “Waltz is either the most CORRUPT government official in history, or the most INCOMPETENT. Even a very low IQ person, of which there are many,  should have known what was going on in Minnesota!!!”

Meanwhile, as per reports, Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison are expected to testify in the House Oversight Committee next month over the state’s alleged welfare fraud scandal.

It has been said that the large-scale welfare fraud schemes involving food assistance took away hundreds of millions of dollars from taxpayer-funded programs. Minnesota’s daycare system has also been accused of fraud.

Ilhan Omar calls out Trump for spreading 'lies and conspiracy theories'

However, Omar, who fled war-torn Somalia with her family in the 1990s, recently blasted Trump after the latter suggested that the DoJ investigate the Democrats’ income, whose worth is more than $44 million.

She posted on X, “Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing and you’re panicking. Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of 'investigations' have found nothing.”



“Get your goons out of Minnesota,” the 43-year-old politician added, referring to the ICE crackdown, which saw the fatal shootings of two US citizens — Renee Good and Alex Pretti — at the hands of federal agents.
