'Pathetic': Trump condemned for endorsing fan comparison of his legal woes to Jesus Christ's persecution ahead of hush money case hearing

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump shockingly supported a message he received from a fan that likened his legal troubles to the persecution of Jesus Christ ahead of a hearing in the hush money case, as per the New York Post.

The GOP presumptive nominee had a tough week as he became the first ex-president to go to trial for a criminal charge in the hush money case involving Stormy Daniels.

Judge Juan Merchan, on Monday, March 25, denied Trump's request to postpone the trial and scheduled it to start on April 15.

Donald Trump's supporter likens his legal troubles to the persecution of Jesus Christ

The unusual comparison came as Christians around the world are commemorating the Holy Week, the final days of Jesus Christ, including his crucifixion.

Trump took to Truth Social, sharing a fan message, and wrote, "Received this morning—Beautiful, thank you!"

The message began, "'It's ironic that Christ walked through His greatest persecution the very week they are trying to steal your property from you. But have you seen this verse…?'" 

It continued, "Psalm 109:3–8 (NKJV): They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause. In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer. Thus they have rewarded me evil for good, And hatred for my love." 

"Set a wicked man over him, And let an accuser stand at his right hand. When he is judged, let him be found guilty, And let his prayer become sin. Let his days be few, And let another take his office," further read the message. 

The Trump supporter hoped, "I'm praying this over you daily. So many praying for you. Thank you again for taking the arrows intended for us. We love you." 



 

Trump faces a 34-count charge for falsifying his business records for allegedly paying hush money to Daniels through his former attorney Michael Cohen to silence her about their supposed affair before the 2016 election.

The Biden campaign wasted no time rebuking the ex-POTUS for promoting the comparison to Jesus Christ.

"He spent the weekend golfing, the morning comparing himself to Jesus, and the afternoon lying about having money he definitely doesn't have," said spokesperson James Singer in a statement, referring to Trump boasting about his wealth despite his failure to secure the $454 million bond in the New York civil fraud trial.

Notably, Appellate Division judges, on Monday, reduced the massive bond amount to $175 million, permitting a 10-day extension to the deadline.

Donald Trump previously claimed he was the worst-treated POTUS

The former president has a bad reputation for being proud of his four indictments, all of which he has denied any wrongdoing.

In February, Trump faced the fury of netizens when he boasted that the several indictments against him made him popular among Black voters.

Speaking at the Black Conservative Federation Gala in Columbia, South Carolina, he claimed the Black people liked him because "they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against, and they actually viewed me as I'm being discriminated against."

In another instance, he argued that he was at the top of the list of worst-treated POTUS', just ahead of Abraham Lincoln.

Internet reacts to Donald Trump sharing a message comparing his trouble with that of Jesus Christ

One wrote, "What a loser. So pathetic," and another added, "He needs to understand what line to cross and which not to."

A person declared, "Reason 1.5m that he is unfit to serve. And here I was thinking we didn't need anymore, let alone that there could be any more."

"Loser. Shame on you," said someone else. 

An individual pointed out, "There’s NO way a man like Trump, who continually violates several of the Ten Commandments, can claim he is a follower of Jesus who taught us 'Everything begins and ends with love.' He calls those who aren’t loyal to him 'vermin'! That’s NOT love."

Another person chimed in, "Trump comparing himself to Jesus the very week of Easter? Every Christian ought to condemn this. Sickening."

"This made me physically ill. To compare anyone to Christ and His suffering in this manner is despicable, but most especially a man as devoid of Christlikeness as Donald Trump. What on earth are people thinking?!" shared one more.
