PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: President Donald Trump unexpectedly joined a wedding at Mar-a-Lago to joke with the newlyweds about finding his way to heaven.

Trump strolled into the reception and was warmly welcomed by the bride and groom, investment banker Michael Wilkerson and his spouse. At one point, he spotted right-wing radio host and author Eric Metaxas nearby. “He’s going to get me into heaven!” Trump said with a smile as he shook Metaxas’s hand.

Metaxas, 62, responded, “I want to talk to him about getting into heaven… but not here. Not here.” He later shared the moment on Instagram, writing: “Last night, at my friend Mike Wilkerson’s wedding at Mar-a-Lago, the President showed up. As he walked in, he pointed right at me and joked, ‘This is the guy who’s going to get me to heaven…’ I laughed and told him, ‘I’d really like to talk to you about that… but another time.’ Then I reminded him, ‘Don’t forget—you’re America’s Supercentennial President.”

Metaxas has authored several Christian texts, historical biographies, more than 30 children’s books, and two Trump-themed titles, 'Donald Builds the Wall and Donald Drains the Swamp.' He has also questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 election results and allegedly punched an anti-Trump protester in 2020.

The wedding Trump gate-crashed belonged to Michael Wilkerson, founder of the patriotic forum Stormwall and author of a two-book collection on American exceptionalism. One of his books, 'Why America Matters: The Case for a New Exceptionalism', explores questions of national identity and purpose.

Trump complimented the newlyweds during the reception, saying, “This is a good-looking couple. Take their picture and use it in a hotel ad,” sparking laughter among the guests.

Donald Trump jokes about reaching heaven while discussing past wars

Just last month, Trump appeared philosophical during a press gaggle aboard Air Force One. In a video posted by the White House, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked about ending the war in Ukraine, Trump said, “I'm being a little cute. I don't think there's anything that's going to get me into heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven-bound.”

He added that he had “made life a lot better for a lot of people” and boasted about solving multiple wars, including one between Pakistan and Afghanistan, stating, “I'm good at solving wars. I'm good at making peace, and it's an honor to do it. I've saved millions of lives.”
